Chapter 2

  • Noah
  • ~•~
  • “Why did he have to do that to me?” I finally spoke after crying for about ten minutes. Aiden was patient enough to wait for me until I was done.
  • “I don’t know, Noah.” He released me from his grip and gestured for me to sit on the counter. It was a little bit high, so I had to jump and I sat facing him.
  • “It’s been over two years but I can’t seem to get over it. Normal people would heal as time goes by but it’s different with me.” I kept on blabbing and blabbing while Aiden listened and watched quietly.
  • It wasn’t appropriate talking to him about it but I couldn’t help myself. Aiden had been in love with me even while I was in love with his brother.
  • I couldn’t imagine myself not being with Dimitri so I never gave Aiden a chance. I was in love with his big brother and I didn’t want things to get messy.
  • Aiden was always a good friend to me. He was like my best friend, the only friend I had apart from Katie. Even after ignoring all his romantic advances towards me, he was still a good person to me.
  • He was there for me when I cried throughout the night after being rejected by Dimitri. He didn’t get any sleep because he wanted to be sure I was okay.
  • Dimitri, on the other hand, completely changed his attitude toward me. He used to be sweet and we would talk about our future together.
  • But one random day, he came back from one of his travels with his father and brought back a twenty-three-year-old blonde girl, who he claimed was the right woman for him. Suddenly, I was too young for him.
  • “I, Alpha Dimitri, reject you, Noah, as my mate.” His cruel words always replayed in my head. My stomach churned whenever I remembered that night.
  • I thought it was a dream but a dream wouldn’t last for over a year. I needed to be a strong girl and let go of him. I still had a tiny bit of hope that he would realize his mistakes and come back to me. But I needed to stop being delusional and face reality.
  • “Noah.” Aiden snapped his fingers at me and interrupted me from my thoughts. I jerked back into reality and he held me so I wouldn’t fall off the counter.
  • “I called your name severally, what were you thinking of?” He questioned curiously.
  • “Nothing.” I shrugged and jumped off the counter. “I should get some sleep.”
  • He gave me a doubtful look but didn’t ask further questions. “I’ll walk you to your room.” He latched his hands against mine and we walked up the stairs.
  • Aiden’s room was downstairs. He moved down because he didn’t want to continue bumping into Dimitri and me while we were being all lovey-dovey. Although he didn’t admit to it, I knew that was the reason.
  • When I first moved to the Lookwood’s house, their father was nice enough to give me a room close to the boys.
  • He looked after me like I was one of his children because he was good friends with my father. My father died when I was twelve. He and some members of the crescent moon pack were attacked by hunters.
  • That was the worst day of my life. I didn’t have anyone to look after me because my mother had abandoned me two months after I was born.
  • I still questioned myself every day why she decided to leave me, but I didn’t get answers. I also didn’t get answers from my dad. He claimed everything was okay between them and she had no reason to leave.
  • I had no relatives because my dad was a rouge who got accepted by the crescent moon pack. Dimitri’s father was nice enough to accept him into his pack.
  • My dad was the best and he made sure I felt loved every day I spent with him. Luckily enough, even in the eight years of my living with Lockwood’s, they also made me feel loved until Dimitri switched two years ago.
  • “Fucking assholes.” I cursed under my breath as we walked past Dimitri’s room. I could still hear sounds of them fucking even with the door closed. Didn’t they have anything better to do?
  • Becky was doing it on purpose. She always made sure she was loud just to spite me. I never missed the smile on her face whenever Dimitri was being rude to me.
  • Aiden tried holding back his laughter when he heard my comment. But his attempt to do so failed as he broke into a loud laugh.
  • “What is wrong with you?” I nudged his shoulder and giggled. His laugh was contagious and I couldn’t help but join.
  • I opened the door and walked into the room. Aiden walked in after me.
  • “Should I stay on the couch until you fall asleep?” He asked, slumping into the blue couch opposite my bed before I could even respond.
  • “You already made your decision.” I rolled my eyes at him and covered myself with my blanket.
  • He threw a bag of chips at me and I caught it mid-air. I had even forgotten about the reason I had gone to the kitchen because I was angry.
  • “Thank you.” I mouthed to him and tore the bag open.
  • Aiden was so sweet and thoughtful. He always did nice things for me. He was also the reason I still lived at their house.
  • When Dimitri betrayed me, he was the one who convinced me not to leave the house when I had packed most of my things to the gate.
  • I didn’t even have anywhere to go, neither did I have money to take care of myself. I just planned to stay at Katie’s house until her parents chased me away.
  • Thankfully, Aiden and his dad stopped me from leaving. Even if I had to go through the pain of seeing Dimitri with another girl, at least I had a place to call home.
  • “What are you doing on her bed?” I heard Dimitri’s voice yell. My eyes fluttered open, I didn’t know how I had fallen asleep the previous night.
  • Confused about who he was yelling at, I scratched my eyes and got in a sitting position. Aiden was sitting on the couch while Dimitri stood in front of him, casting him a curious angry look.
