Chapter 10 Completely Healed

  • Yulian hailed a taxi, hurriedly taking Ruby and her mother toward the night market.
  • Ruby's face turned pale, her delicate body trembling slightly with fear. Her large eyes were filled with panic and helplessness. The calamity that had befallen her father, the pillar of their family, was nothing short of a disaster for her.
  • “Ruby, don't be afraid. I'm here,” Yulian said, his heart aching. He tightly held her cold hand, his broad shoulders providing a sense of immense reliability.
  • Georgina had also completely changed her previously domineering demeanor, now looking pitifully at Yulian as she pleaded, “Yulian, Aldo has watched you grow up. You can't just stand by and do nothing. Today, our family's fate rests entirely in your hands.”
  • Although she had always been indifferent towards Yulian, in such a desperate situation, she had no choice but to cling to Yulian as her only lifeline.
  • “Mrs. Martinez, rest assured, Mr. Martinez's matters are my matters,” Yulian said with conviction.
  • The car quickly pulled up at the night market. Under the dim light, Aldo Martinez stood dazedly to one side. His stall was thoroughly wrecked, with tables, chairs, and benches overturned on the ground. Tablewares and shards of broken liquor bottles were scattered all over the place.
  • A blond-haired individual had fallen to the ground, clutching his stomach as he rolled around in agony. His ceaseless screams echoed around, reminiscent of a pig being slaughtered.
  • “Dad, how are you?” Upon seeing the situation, Ruby quickly rushed over, her eyes brimming with tears as she helped Aldo to his feet.
  • “Aldo, w-what happened? How did someone get food poisoning?” Georgina asked, her face full of anxiety.
  • Aldo sighed helplessly. “I really don't know. This group ordered a table full of dishes, and I thought a big business had come my way. However, just as I was about to settle the bill, he collapsed on the floor, accusing us of using gutter oil and rat meat and demanding that I cover his medical expenses. I've been a chef all my life. In all honesty, there's absolutely nothing wrong with my cooking.”
  • Yulian, standing to the side, narrowed his eyes. The ins and outs of the matter were clear to him at a glance.
  • Aldo was once an old chef in a state-owned enterprise's cafeteria. He had no particular strengths except for his simplicity and honesty, making him a quintessential honest man. It was precisely because of his inflexible nature, and his inability to “smooth relationships” during the wave of layoffs, that he became one of the first workers to be laid off.
  • Afterward, Aldo, relying on his culinary skills, set up a large food stall in the night market. For over a decade, he worked tirelessly, rain or shine. If anyone were to suggest that he was unscrupulously selling rat meat or causing food poisoning, Yulian would never believe it, not in a hundred years.
  • Of course, in order to understand more clearly, he planned first to suppress his anger and observe carefully.
  • At that moment, a man stepped out of the Mercedes parked next to the stall. He was in his late twenties, dressed in designer clothes, sporting a crew cut, and had a fierce and thuggish look on his face. He was followed by seven or eight young hooligans who brazenly barged their way to Georgina, shouting menacingly. “Enough with the chit-chat. If the food is fine, do you think my brother would end up like this? Did you bring the money? The medical fee is fifty thousand. Not a penny less will do!”
  • Georgina was terrified by the brutish man, Perry Watson. Her voice trembled as she spoke, “S-Sir, we're just humble stall owners. We don't have that much money. C-Could you perhaps give us some more time?”
  • “Give you more time? Lives are at stake here. Can we afford to delay?” Perry was arrogantly aggressive. “Let me tell you, if anything happens to my buddy because the medical fees aren't paid in full, you all will be the murderers. You won't be able to escape responsibility. At the very least, you'll end up in prison, sentenced for decades.”
  • “Oh my goodness. Sir, I beg you, please don't make things difficult for us. We really can't come up with that much money.” Upon hearing that she was going to be sentenced, Georgina was almost scared to tears. Her legs went weak, and she pleaded in an incredibly pitiful and sorrowful manner.
  • “No money?” Perry stared at Georgina and her husband with a gaze as sharp as a knife. He then scanned their surroundings, his eyes suddenly landing on the pure and beautiful Ruby. His eyes gleamed with a wolfish light, and he smirked. “Since you have no money, then your daughter can pay off the debt. Send her to our nightclub. A beauty like her, as enchanting as a national treasure, will have plenty of bosses vying for her.”
  • Ruby's face turned pale with fright. She quickly hid behind her father, and protested in a delicate voice, “Ruffian, don't even think about it. I would rather die than go to such a place!”
  • Georgina's face had also turned ashen, a look of fear etched across her features. “This... This is unacceptable, sir. This is my own daughter we're talking about. No, absolutely not.”
  • “Nothing is acceptable to you. Are you treating me like a monkey to play with?” Perry harshly shouted, suddenly pulling out a knife from his palm. The cold light flashed, and with a swift 'whoosh' sound, he slammed it down at Georgina's feet. The action frightened Georgina into a series of screams, nearly causing her to fall flat on her bottom.
  • “Two options,” Perry declared menacingly, toying with a knife. “One, repay the money immediately. Two, sell your daughter to cover the debt!” He spoke from a position of superiority. “I'm giving you three minutes to think it over. Don't force me to take drastic measures. The people standing behind me are not to be trifled with!”
  • The young mobsters behind him immediately drew their steel rods and machetes, shouting boisterously with an intimidating and arrogant air. That only served to frighten Georgina even more, sending chills down her spine. Feeling alone and helpless, she could only hold her husband and weep bitterly. Gone was the arrogance she once displayed at home when dealing with Yulian.
  • For ordinary people like them, provoking a mobster like Perry was a disaster. They certainly couldn't come up with the huge sum of fifty thousand. They couldn't bear the thought of selling their daughter into that bottomless pit either. Georgina's heart was in turmoil as she was caught between a rock and a hard place.
  • The moonlight shimmered, casting an ominous glow on the steel pipes and machetes held by a group of mobsters. That sight sent chills down the spines of Georgina's family of three, leaving them trembling incessantly.
  • Three minutes later, Perry glanced impatiently at his watch. Then, pointing at Ruby, he let out a sinister laugh. “Time's up! Bring her away!”
  • “No, don't!”
  • A few mobsters, their faces twisted into sinister grins, were about to pounce on Ruby, who was hiding in the corner.
  • At that very moment, Yulian, who had been silent all along, suddenly stood up. His robust and sturdy figure positioned itself directly in front of Ruby. With a swift kick, he sent two mobsters flying five to six meters away, their screams of agony echoing in the air.
  • His attack was fierce.
  • The gang of mobsters all froze in their tracks. Perry's eyes narrowed slightly, a hint of apprehension in his voice as he asked, “And who might you be? Don't meddle in affairs that don't concern you.”
  • A wave of emotion swept over Ruby, her voice pitiful and pleading, “Yul.”
  • “Don't worry, I'm here.” Yulian tightly held the lady's hand, his cold gaze sweeping over the flat-headed man. He spoke up, “I'm her brother, leave this matter to me to handle.”
  • The crowd at the scene began to buzz with discussion. Food poisoning, even if it were to be diagnosed by the chief expert of Hofcaster Hospital, would require a series of complex and tedious examinations. Could the young man really cure it with just a casual examination?
  • “Yul?” Ruby was taken aback, and her parents also looked puzzled. Hadn't Yulian just returned from his military service? How did he become a doctor?
  • “You wanna play the hero? Go ahead. Treat my buddy,” Perry sneered, his smile intriguingly enigmatic. “However, let me warn you, if you fail to cure my buddy, you'll have to pay double the medical expenses. A hundred thousand.”
  • “All right.” Yulian nodded, walking over to the blond-haired man sprawled on the ground. He gently pressed on the man's stomach, asking, “Can you move?”
  • “Ouch, it hurts!” Blondie grimaced in pain, cursing, “Nonsense, of course I can't move. I'm completely drained from food poisoning!”
  • “What about now?” Yulian pressed on Blondie's stomach.
  • “Ouch, it's killing me! You heartless merchants, hurry, take me to the hospital. I... I'm dying—” Blondie grimaced in pain, cold sweat breaking out on his forehead as he thrashed about.
  • A satisfied and contented smile spread across Perry's face. Blondie's acting skills are getting better and better. This trick never fails. When we get back, I'll have to reward him handsomely.
  • “Don't worry, I'll help you get better.” Yulian clapped his hands and stood up.
  • In the next moment, he suddenly let out a deep shout and delivered a powerful kick to Blondie's backside.
  • Blondie released a shriek akin to a pig being slaughtered. His eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets, and the pain caused him to leap more than two meters high.
  • The entire crowd was left dumbfounded, wondering what kind of treatment was that.
  • Yulian firmly held Blondie down, a cold smile playing on his lips. “Don't move. One more step, and you'll be fully healed.”
  • Blondie suddenly felt a chill run down his spine. In his pupils, Yulian's fierce right foot rapidly enlarged, ruthlessly stomping towards his chest. The force behind this kick was five or six times greater than before. If this kick landed, it would either kill him or leave him crippled! Good heavens, this person is a lunatic!
  • Blondie's heart nearly leapt out of his chest in fear. He let out a sharp, terrified scream, and with a swift, satisfying movement, he stood up. His face turned deathly pale from fright, and he continued to scream in terror. “All right, all right, I'm completely okay now. Jot a trace of pain left! You don't need to treat me anymore. Really, there's no need.”
  • The entire place was filled with an uproar.
