Chapter 8 A Night Of Alliances

• Leah gracefully made her way down the stairs slowly, her balance undisturbed by the fact that Zev was startled to realize that the center of attention was his own wife as he turned to look at her. Leah felt quite appalled by his reaction.
• As she reached the bottom, Zev extended his hand, much to the displeasure of Princess Blue, also known as Nina, in her peculiar weird attire. Leah, however, ignored his hands and moved past them as if they weren't related, which stirred a fresh bout of gossip. In the werewolf community, such whispers were hardly private; their enhanced hearing made every silent murmur audible.
• She mingled briefly with a few familiar couples, exchanging pleasantries without mention of the earlier awkwardness as they gave out their best smiles towards her. With the evening still in full swing, Leah decided to get herself a glass of a strong drink to boost her morale. She definitely needed some today.
