Chapter 115 Let Her Come Beg Me Herself

  • Pierre Cook didn’t want to waste breath on people like that. He broke away from the crowd and looked in the direction of Jiang Chuyin. But the mother and daughter were already gone. After asking a few folks nearby, he learned that when he squeezed into the crowd, Jiang Chuyin had carried her daughter over the highway guardrail and headed for a nearby village. Pierre guessed she was scared he’d start asking about her daughter’s corneas, so she slipped away while he wasn’t looking. He didn’t hesitate. He vaulted the highway guardrail and rushed toward the village to catch up. Yet after combing the whole place, he still couldn’t find Jiang Chuyin and her kid. In a sea of faces, he honestly had no clue where to look next. For the first time, Pierre felt how limited one man’s strength really was. He craved a force of his own. If he had a powerful network at his fingertips, he could send them out right now to find the mother and daughter. The Southwest King Championship a few days from now was the perfect shot. As long as he became king of the underground scene across the three states in Serregon’s southwest, he could unleash that power to search for Jiang Chuyin and her girl—as well as his mother and sister. Before, Pierre promised Gao Weiwei he’d join the Southwest King Championship just to find out who had been pulling strings back then. Now he had one more reason. This time, he had to win. Thinking it through, Pierre headed back to the highway. The moment he returned, he saw the same crowd in chaos again. That female doctor was surrounded by the state leader’s men, all fuming, while she stumbled over explanations. From their shouting, Pierre gathered the state leader was about to kick the bucket, and his people were blaming the doctor. Interested, he walked toward the commotion again. The doctor had sharp eyes—she spotted Pierre in an instant, a flicker of relief crossing her face. The leader was circling the drain. She’d thrown everything she had at it and still couldn’t stabilize him. The ambulance was nowhere in sight. If he stopped breathing, it was only a matter of time. Once he died, her career would probably die with him. That kid tried to steal my thunder earlier, didn’t he? If I get him over here to “save” the leader and things go south, I can pin it all on him and get out clean. With that, the doctor pointed at Pierre and said a few words to the men hemming her in. A handful of them ran toward him. “Sir, didn’t you say you had a way to stabilize the leader’s injuries?” “He’s in critical condition and could stop breathing any second. Please come save him!” A man who looked like a secretary hurried up to Pierre, panic in his voice. “I’m a quack without even a medical license,” Pierre said coolly, nodding toward the female doctor. “Saving a state leader? That’s way out of my pay grade. You should ask your overseas-trained medical expert here.” “Sir, we were in the wrong earlier. A life’s on the line now—please don’t hold it against us. We’re begging you, save him.” The secretary’s face burned with embarrassment as he apologized and pleaded. “I’m a petty guy,” Pierre said bluntly, thinking of what had just happened. “I can let the past slide and step in—but on one condition. You agree, and I’ll act right now.” “If you can bring him back, name your price.” The secretary was furious Pierre was bargaining at a time like this, but the leader was hanging by a thread. He forced his temper down, tried to sound calm. “My demand’s simple,” Pierre raised a brow, pointing at the female doctor in the crowd. “She comes over and begs me herself. Otherwise, I don’t care if the King of Heaven shows—my hands stay off.” The moment he said it, the secretary froze. The female doctor froze. Everyone else froze too.
