Chapter 7

  • Zander's POV
  • "No, Alpha, I mean... Yes, alpha." Clarke and Yeoman coughed together, after I answered with fumbling.
  • They are my friends but they don't leave any moment to tease me. However, I am no less than a jerk. My one dark glare shot in their direction, as they were standing beside each other, shut them up.
  • They innocently looked at the floor as if they never coughed. Trust me, if it had been a different moment then I must have banged their heads with a baseball bat, my hands were tied with the invisible ropes of obedience as we were standing in front of the alpha of our pack.
  • I would not have minded to bang their heads across the Principal if he were alone. Who cares about his presence? Not me.
  • "Anyways," I had to brush away all the thoughts and focus back on alpha's word as he killed the silence again. "Last year, your performance was good. Your scores were not bad either. But since you guys missed the finals, Principal sir and I have decided to have you repeat the year again."
  • "What?"
  • "Huh, are you serious dad?"
  • "Holy goddess,"
  • "No way, please..."
  • My friends expressed their bewilderment while I stood silent. I didn't care really. Ryley gawked at my face in amusement for unlike them, I preferred to keep mum. But isn't it obvious that we have to repeat the year? I think all of us knew the answer which was why we came on the first day of the new academic year. We must be preparing for entering universities otherwise.
  • "This is crazy, dad! Can't we appear for a retest or something. That does not sound interesting at all." Ryley annoyingly stated.
  • "I am surprised to see that you are not surprised, Zander!" Alpha being the Alpha, avoided his son and talked to me.
  • I just shook my head in a no with a shrug of my shoulders, "I don't know why are they being so dumb?" Ryley hit me with his elbow. That was funny. So funny that his father chuckled and Principal nodded his head in defeat.
  • "When the alpha has decided already then who are you to express your disappointment, Ryley Shine." I spoke aloud as I eyed Ryley for the elbow shot he gave in my waist. "This or that way, we have to repeat this year. Now don't tell me you don't know your father!"
  • Ryley defeatedly clenched his jaw. And then a sigh skedaddled from his mouth. He must have realized that we were not called here for putting forth our views, but we were called to be enlightened by the decision they have made for us.
  • "You are quite cleverer than I thought." My amusement was gone when Alpha Hercules said that.
  • He thought I was brainless! That just made me press my lips together while I brushed away his remark. His son is no cleverer than me. He is the dumbest.
  • I chuckled at the thought that made my friends and the seniors sitting before us dart their eyes on me, "I am sorry, I just recollected something." I excused before Alpha Hercules or anyone else read my thoughts.
  • "So we hope this is clear to you all that you are repeating this year. Now go and attend your first lecture with your new classmates." He smilingly said; however, my arms froze as realization hit me.
  • The new batch consists of our juniors from the last year. Valen's batch. Shucks! How am I supposed to study with her in the same class? Huh.
  • Tbc...
