Chapter 38
- Elisa took the medicine and slept for about two hours. When she woke up, she felt well again, as if she were a different person. She felt thirsty and a little hungry, got out of bed and went downstairs.
- It was hushed at this time, two o'clock in the afternoon. She descended the stairs lightly and walked towards the kitchen. There was no one there, so she poured herself a glass of water, and there were small tomatoes on the table. She stuffed two in her mouth, one on each side, keeping her mouth full.
- Afterward, she rummaged through the kitchen cabinets and grabbed some cookies and soda; on the other side, she held a yogurt. This would be her lunch.
