- Stacey stepped forward to explain. "There's been a misunderstanding. She found an earring in my friend's bag, but she didn't steal anything. I think someone must have put those earrings in her bag."
- "The alarm went off, and I found these in her bag." She showed the earrings to the security guards. "It's clear she took them."
