Chapter 19 I Want My Student

  • I had been teaching adults at a private college for three years and this student, always sitting at the back of the class, was the shyest I had ever had and I liked him. Everyone liked him in fact, he was lively, intelligent, brilliant and funny. Moreover, this man was born to do graphic design. He was by far the most talented student I had. However, like me he was approaching fifty, probably a late vocation. I started studying this field at 18 and I had spent my life in the graphic arts and it intimidated him, I felt it. I embarrassed him a lot! Even though I projected the image of a confident little woman, a go-getter who is not afraid of anything, I was quite the opposite, a shy person too. It took everything for me to decide to start teaching and the first week had been a real ordeal for me. But I loved it and I felt good now in this new career, but alone... and “Pierre” was handsome, really my type of man.
  • I had been separated for two years and sex-wise it was at a standstill, literally, I rushed into work without thinking much about it, and I liked this guy and he liked me, I could see it clearly, just from the way he approached me. look, to look down when I turned around after writing on the board. The others did it too, but it was more out of respect than fear of being surprised, you could tell. Or he would blush a little when I leaned close to him to explain something on his computer.
  • He was tall, thin, Sherlock Holmes-like in profile and secretive. He constantly wore jeans and a worn leather jacket. During breaks, I always chatted with my students but it was mainly the girls who kept me busy, Pierre listened, never far away. After three months of lessons, I understood that he would not take the plunge. He must have thought I was married or in a relationship or he was just too embarrassed to do so. I had heard him tell someone else that he was separated and lived alone. Besides, he must have thought that a teacher would never go out with a student, but why not, we were adults here, I wasn't teaching teenagers, as long as we didn't shout it from the rooftops.
