  • That morning, the sky was overcast, as if mirroring Nessa's mood. She had just left Evelyn's house after a restless night's sleep.   • At the roadside, the traffic light had changed. Nessa crossed the street so slowly. However, her mind was too preoccupied to notice her surroundings. She didn't realize that a car was speeding toward her from the right, about to cut across the road. The car tried to stop, but it was too late.
