Chapter 56 Echoes In The Night

  • The forest had swallowed the last glow of sunset by the time they finally stopped. The survivors moved with sluggish steps, their bodies pushed beyond exhaustion, until Kelvin called a halt at a sheltered grove where the trees bent low and thick, their branches weaving a canopy overhead.
  • “We camp here,” he said firmly, his voice brooking no argument. Even if they had the strength to keep going, pushing further into the dark while half their number bled would invite disaster.
  • The warriors lowered themselves with sighs of relief, some slumping against tree trunks, others sinking directly onto the mossy ground. Their armor clinked faintly as they moved, weary and scarred from the mirror realm’s horrors.
