• After a snooze and an earth-shattering orgasm, I discover that I’m ravenous, despite my large lunch. Heidi offers to cook something, but Alan has urged me to make use of their chef, so I call the house and ask whether he’d be prepared to make us something. “Anything, sir,” is the answer, so I ask him for something Chinese and spicy. After a while, there’s a knock at the door, and a young guy delivers a bag full of containers. We take them into the kitchen and unpack them with whistles and cheers when we discover kung pao chicken, twice-cooked pork, king prawns in ginger and garlic, and a superb crispy chili beef, along with fried rice and homemade vegetable spring rolls.
• Heidi and I pour ourselves another drink, serve up the food, take it out onto the terrace, and sit at the outdoor dining table to eat. It’s a beautiful evening, warm and sunny, and we work our way through the dishes while we talk about the day. She asks lots of questions about the board meeting and what Alan said, and I tell her a bit more about Stork and what Alan’s hoping to achieve at Acheron.
