Chapter 8 Mr Yates!
- Beside her was Daisy, the little furry pomeranian puppy.
- "Cherry! Mr. Yates!” Stacy cried out with tears streaming down her cheeks from her amber eyes
- She managed to break free from her father's grip on her while he was lost in thoughts about the stranger who just barged into his home.
- She ran and hid behind Mr. Yates's overbearing silhouette.
- "Who the hell are you? Who do you think you are to get yourself into my residence to intervene in my matters and still threaten me on what to do and what not with my own daughter?” Ethan thundered angrily.
- He didn't know who was the wealthy and formidable man before him but he would stop at nothing to make sure Stacy got married to Dan Hawk by any means possible!
- Bruce Yates stared expressionlessly at Ethan, his anger boiling beneath the surface of his composure as his jaw gnashed together in irritation about the kind of abusive father Stacy had.
- How dare he force Stacy against her will and still raise his hand against her? Damn!
- "Stacy get back here and sign these papers or else you'll regret ever going against me!” He yelled and instead of Stacy getting scared and coming out from her hiding spot behind Mr. Yates's massive body build, she tucked her head in his back, hiding from her father's vicious gaze.
- Ethan moved his gaze to Dan who stood at the side in the sitting room.
- Dan’s gaze pierced into Ethan's eyes, silently urging him to do something to get Stacy into signing the marriage papers or else he would regret not doing so.
- Suddenly, a sly smile crept at the side of Ethan’s lips, brushing his scrambled brown hair backward as he spoke calmly, approaching Stacy with steady and calculative steps. "You won't listen to me now, will you?” He asked calmly with hidden threats in his tone. "You know what would happen when little Stacy doesn't listen to Daddy, don't you?”
- Stacy’s body trembled behind Bruce and he tilted his head to the side, the side of his eyes caught Stacy shivering slightly and he confirmed that Stacy was indeed scared of her father which made him wonder why and what her dad meant behind his threats.
- According to Bruce Yates's experience, he managed to figure out that Stacy’s scared behavior might have been a result of her father's harsh treatment and behavior towards her. Making her think everyone she came across was like her Dad..or maybe not.
- But he was yet to know what exactly could make a grown-up so scared of standing up against her dad when he was clearly treating her wrong. It didn't make sense at all but he was sure to change things.
- "Dad does something,” Cherry, Mr. Yates's daughter pleaded, pulling his hand.
- Ethan grabbed Stacy by her wrist and pulled her away from Bruce but before Ethan could actually reach out to Stacy, Bruce yanked his hand away from Stacy.
- With a menacing glare fixed on Ethan, Bruce's voice dripped with icy malice as he pointed a threatening finger at him.
- "If those hands of yours dare to even graze her skin, you'll find yourself bidding a chilling farewell to them before they meet their gruesome end," he growled, each word laced with a promise of impending doom. "Choose wisely, Ethan, for the consequences of your actions will be far more terrifying than you can imagine."
- Ethan felt a chill run down his spine and the air in the room turned cold and deadly with goosebumps forming on his skin making him instinctively take a step back away from Bruce for his own safety.
- Ethan could feel and see the power Bruce Yates had, flowing from the look he shot at him and the tone in his voice.
- Seeing Ethan take a step back, Dan cussed under his breath knowing Ethan already felt intimidated by Bruce's unspoken demeanor, and he needed to take a stand up if he was going to be the last man standing and be the one to take Stacy along with him.
- "Stacy, What do you think you are doing? Do you know who he is? Don't be so dumb and stupid by rubbing yourself around him. Come to me,” Dan gestured for Stacy to come forward.
- "My substitute mummy isn't stupid or dumb,” Cherry interjected, not liking the words he used on her mummy.
- Daisy went forward to where Dan Hawk was and sniffed around his foot.
- Dan had to take an immediate step back away from Daisy in both fear of dogs and irritation at what Daisy was doing to him.
- "What is this thing doing? Get away from me,” Dan tried to kick Daisy but Daisy already knew his next move and fled away from him making Dan throw his foot aimlessly in the air.
- Daisy returned back to Cherry with a bark, her tongue out of her mouth as she breathed erratically.
- Cherry carried Daisy into her arms as she stroked her fur. "Hmm. He is a bad guy isn't he, Daisy? They both look like the big bad guy from the cartoon we both watched last night,” Daisy warfed back in agreement, licking Cherry’s face with her slimy tongue.
