• A cold anxious glint flashes in Bruno's eyes as he steps forward as though to block me from Romano's penetrating eyes. "Mr. De Luca, don't think that I'm simply going to let it slide that you physically attacked me. No matter how powerful you are, you can't buy all the police in this country!" Bruno states and I grip his arm.
• I don't want him talking to Romano. I hate that I'm so afraid right now, Bruno doesn't know the depths of Romano's cruelty, but I do. He sighs and turns to me, "You must be so tired; I've already called the driver; we will be going to my place tonight," Bruno says loudly, and my instinct tells me that he is addressing my ex-husband whose haunting presence looms above us.
