Chapter 6 She Refused the Repayment
- The man's gaze was indifferent even though they were talking about a major life event like marriage, as if he was merely fulfilling a duty.
- His gaze was cold, noble, with a touch of condescension.
- This made Anastasia feel disgusted.
- Anastasia suddenly smiled, brushed her long hair aside, and looked at the man opposite her. "Do you think I look like someone who can't get married?"
- She was very beautiful, stunningly so, with a rare beauty.
- "You don't want to marry me?" Elliot's lips curved slightly, secretly relieved.
- "You are powerful, wealthy, and handsome. Yet, I don't care." Anastasia replied with a strong sense of pride.
- Elliot was slightly taken aback.
- Seems like there's no chemistry between us. Well, that's what I want.
- Just as he wished, they had no connection.
- Elliot continued, "I hope you can meet my grandmother in person." Only this woman could put an end to his grandmother's ideas.
- In his heart, he was responsible for another woman.
- "You should resolve your family's affairs yourself. I don't have time."
- Anastasia was unwilling to meet the Presgrave Family. She had a hunch that his grandmother wouldn't be easily persuaded.
- Otherwise, how could someone of Elliot's status be forced to come and propose to her?
- Anastasia drove Elliot out, using work as an excuse.
- Elliot was incredibly shocked when he was shown the door. No woman had ever disregarded him like this.
- After sending him away, Anastasia stood before the floor-to-ceiling window, looking at the familiar city, and took a deep breath.
- She picked up her phone and dialed her father's number.
- "Hello? Who is this?" came a familiar voice from the other end.
- Anastasia's nose tingled, and she called out, "Dad, it's me! It's Anastasia."
- "Anastasia? Where have you been these five years? I couldn't find you." Francis' voice was filled with joy.
- Blood was thicker than water. Families would always have each others' back.
- Tears swelled in Anastasia's eyes. "Dad, I'm sorry. I've been living abroad these past few years. Now I've returned to work."
- "That's good. Come home when you can."
- "I've been quite busy recently. I'll come back when I'm free."
- "Alright, as long as you are healthy and safe, that's all that matters. It was my fault. I shouldn't have driven you out."
- "Let's not talk about the past." Anastasia comforted him. She had been through all the hardships and didn't want to recall them.
- "Alright, come back home soon." Francis sighed.
- Anastasia hung up the phone and took a deep breath.
- She was still reluctant to return to that home, thinking about being driven out of the house and her miserable experience abroad. As long as her father was healthy and worry-free, it was enough.
- At this moment, Vice President Larry knocked on the door, holding a box. "Anastasia, I have something for you."
- Anastasia looked at the box he placed on the table, surprised. "What is this?"
- "Cloud Residence No. 1. It's a luxurious large flat worth 120 billion. It's 370 square meters, has luxury decoration, and top-notch property management. You can move in when you're ready. You deserve it." Larry said in one breath, opening the box to reveal six keys and a door card.
- Anastasia frowned. "This is for me?"
- "Anastasia, this is a special arrangement by President Presgrave. He replaced your apartment with Cloud Residence No. 1's large flat. Surprise!"
- "Take it away. I don't need it." Anastasia coldly refused. She didn't want to accept any favors from the Presgrave Family. She had a very painful childhood when her mother died.
- Although her mother received a great medal, Anastasia lost her closest family member.
- Larry was dumbfounded for a few seconds.
- Such a good deal, and she refused?
- "Tell President Presgrave I don't need special treatment in the company." Anastasia pushed the box back toward him, saying, "Take it away."
- "Don't be like this. I can't explain it to him. Just accept it!" Larry knew the big boss, Elliot, was interested in Anastasia.
- Anastasia insisted, "Send it back. I really don't need it. Thank you."
- Larry had to take the keys back, seeing her determination.
- At this moment, Elliot was not working at Dominion Corporation but in Bourgeois' general office.
- "President Presgrave, Anastasia didn't accept it. I tried my best, but she didn't take it." Larry reported helplessly.
- "Okay." Elliot's dark eyes flickered with complex emotions.
- I knew it.
- It would be best if he could repay the favor with material things. This way, his marriage wouldn't be constrained.
- At Tillman Residence.
- Francis had just returned home. Seeing his wife watching TV on the sofa, he happily said, "Naomi, I received a call from Anastasia today. She's been living abroad these years. No wonder I couldn't reach her."
- He didn't notice the sudden change in his wife's expression. Her eyes filled with resentment as she snorted, "Why do you still think about her? She disgraced you back then. Don't let her come back."
- "Naomi, I've thought about it. Anastasia is not that kind of person. There must be some misunderstanding. It's been so many years. Let it go."
- "What misunderstanding? The media caught her going to those places late at night. The evidence was clear." Naomi never expected Anastasia to come back.
- Is she thinking of returning to fight for the family's property because the company has developed well? No! That's all for my daughter. Anastasia will not get a cent.
- Francis said no more and went upstairs, seeing his wife's displeasure and feeling tired.
- Naomi quickly picked up the phone and dialed her daughter's number.
- "Erica, that little b*tch Anastasia contacted your dad today. She's back."
- "What? How dare she come back?"
- "She must be eyeing the family property, wanting to get a share. She won't even dream of it as long as I'm here." Naomi sneered, her face full of sharpness and malice.
- "I drove her away five years ago. I'll make her leave again if she comes back." Erica was equally confident.
