Chapter 3 Met in the Airport
- Five years later, at the international airport.
- Anastasia pushed forward a trolley filled with luggage, which an adorable boy sat on. His eyes were sparkling with wonder as he scanned his surroundings.
- She looked around the airport, feeling a myriad of emotions.
- In the past five years, she worked hard and raised him alone. She was now the chief designer of QR Diamond Global.
- She wouldn't have returned if it weren't for the transfer, as she left Dansbury with a broken heart five years ago.
- The night at the club ruined her.
- Her lovely and thoughtful son was the only good thing that happened to her.
- She looked tenderly at her son on the cart, but suddenly, her stomach ached. She glanced around and noticed the restroom nearby. She quickly picked up her son and sat him on a nearby bench, instructing, "I'm going to the restroom. Wait for me here, okay?"
- "All right, Mommy!" The boy with a face mask smiled. His beautiful obsidian eyes twinkled.
- She couldn't help but stare. Every time she looked at his face, happiness bloomed within her at the thought of giving birth to such an adorable boy.
- Besides, she knew he was a smart boy. Nobody could ever fool him.
- Therefore, she hurried away.
- Elliot, who had just gotten off the plane, marched across the arrival hall in a black trench coat.
- He had just returned from visiting his best friend abroad.
- His grandmother used to send him to a secret camp for training, where he met his two lifelong best friends.
- The three of them trained together for eight years. So, he didn't bring anyone with him during his visit.
- He happened to see Anastasia leaving, and his eyes narrowed with a hint of disgust.
- What an irresponsible mother to leave her child alone! What if he gets kidnapped?
- He was abducted once when he was five years old. He would have died long ago if it weren't for the female police officer who risked herself to save him. Therefore, he couldn't tolerate irresponsible parents.
- He turned around and walked toward the boy. The boy wore a blue flannel shirt and a pair of denim shorts. His thick and soft hair covered his delicate but youthful facial features. Even at the age of four, he exuded unparalleled elegance.
- He's adorable!
- Elliot approached the boy, bent down, and gently asked, "Little boy, what are you doing alone here? Where's your mother?"
- The boy looked up and met his gaze warily. After sizing him up, the boy cautiously explained, "My mother has to use the restroom. She'll be back soon."
- The boy's lovely appearance and his childish voice melted Elliot's heart. Moreover, he found the boy looked similar to him when he was just a kid. He couldn't help but feel drawn to the boy.
- He bent lower and softly asked, "Then I'll wait with you, okay?"
- "Okay." Since he meant no harm, the boy agreed. Still, the boy kept a cautious eye on the luggage as he slid to the side of the bench.
- Anastasia returned a few minutes later. Her heart skipped a beat when she saw a tall, slender man standing beside her son.
- "Jared!" She hurried forward as she called out to her son.
- The boy's eyes lit up when he saw her and rushed into her arms.
- Elliot turned around and noticed her. She was dressed in a white shirt with a pair of jeans. Her long hair was styled in a ponytail, revealing her innocent face. Her fair complexion and graceful posture made her stand out in the crowd.
- In his eyes, she was a careless mother despite her appearance.
- He stepped forward and sternly began, "Miss, you shouldn't have left the child alone."
- His reprimand took her aback. I should be the one who warns him to stay away from Jared!
- "What else? I can't take him to the ladies' room!" she retorted with a polite smile.
- He frowned and replied in a deep voice, "Regardless, it's dangerous to leave the child alone. What if something happens—"
- "Knock it off. My son is a smart boy and not easily deceived. On the other hand, you look like the bad guy," she interrupted him.
- "Y-You're unreasonable!" Elliot refused to argue with her and stormed off with his luggage.
- She scoffed at his reaction. After checking her luggage and confirming nothing was lost, she walked toward the exit with Jared in her arms.
- What a weird guy! She couldn't help but repeat their encounter in her mind.
- A black Rolls-Royce Phantom was parked near the entrance.
- The driver hastily got out of the car to greet Elliot as he exited the building.
- "Mr. Elliot." Rey respectfully nodded before taking the luggage and opening the door for Elliot
- After getting in the car, Elliot leaned back against the back seat and rested his eyes. The scenes from earlier replayed in his mind, causing him to shake his head in frustration. The unreasonable woman is getting on my nerves!
- Rey glanced at him from the rearview mirror and cautiously informed, "Mr. Elliot, Old Madam Presgrave asks to see you."
- "Okay. Let's go see her then," Elliot replied lazily once he snapped out of his trance.
- At that moment, his phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID before answering, "Hayley."
- "Elliot, when are you visiting? I miss you every day!" Hayley asked in a sweet voice.
