Chapter 3 This Time, I Want To Divorce Julian
- “Calm down, Vivian. Open your eyes and breathe slowly..."
- He gently took off his black coat and draped it over my body, his hand patting my back firmly. Hunched over, I coughed violently until my chest tightened, seawater continuously spilling from the corners of my lips.
- The cold wind blew against me, making my body tremble uncontrollably, while my legs continued to ache sharply. I vaguely bent down to rub my left leg when a warm hand settled over it, carefully kneading it with steady pressure.
- “Breathe slowly. Your leg is cramping.”
- The pain gradually subsided, and I slowly regained my breath. Turning my head, I stared blankly at the familiar face of the man beside me.
- It was Charles Waverly, who could be considered my childhood best friend.
- He was also the person who had most passionately opposed my decision to marry Julian.
- He had repeatedly insisted that Julian was incompetent and untrustworthy, but back then, I ignored him. I had even cut off contact with Charles for more than five years because of Julian.
- I never expected that, at my final moment of danger, Charles would be the one to save me.
- “See? I warned you long ago that Julian was a jerk, but you wouldn’t listen! This time, you can’t possibly defend him anymore, right?”
- Seeing me staring at him, Charles’s cheeks flushed slightly, and he couldn’t help clicking his tongue.
- “Why aren’t you saying anything? Weren’t you always the best at arguing with me before? Or did you fall into the sea and get water in your brain..."
- Before he could finish, I could no longer hold myself back and threw myself into his arms, hot tears continuously streaming down my face.
- “Charles, I’m sorry. I should have listened to you..."
- My voice was much hoarser than usual, and all the grievances I had been holding inside surged out, leaving my chest tight with emotion. After a few seconds of surprise, Charles gently embraced me in return, softly patting my back.
- “It’s okay now, Vivian. I’m here, and you’re safe..."
- My eyes grew even hotter, and my trembling body buried itself deeper into his arms.
- “Julian pushed you into the sea again because of a mistress. He’s exactly a jerk!”
- “He clearly didn’t just want to punish you. He wanted to kill you!”
- Charles continued gritting his teeth as he cursed Julian, his words becoming increasingly harsh. Amid the low hum of the engine and the sound of the speedboat cutting through the water, for some reason, his voice sounded strangely comforting.
- “Right, why are you here?”
- Once I had regained my composure, I sniffed and asked curiously. Charles looked at me with a cold smile.
- “What else? You forgot this is my private waters?”
- He raised an eyebrow and glanced around.
- “That bastard Julian took it upon himself to park his yacht in my private waters, then livestreamed himself showing off. I came to drive him away, only to find my foolish best friend struggling in the water..."
- His words made my face flush, and I lowered my eyes in embarrassment.
- “Only now are you embarrassed? Why weren’t you embarrassed before, when you argued with me just to stay by his side?”
- Charles gave a cold laugh, a trace of contempt flashing through his eyes.
- “Right, that damn livestream of your husband’s has gone viral. The number of viewers just surpassed ten million.”
- Charles clicked his tongue.
- “Quite a few people are furious over your damn husband’s disregard for human life. Numerous news outlets have already published reports condemning him, and the public seems absolutely outraged!”
- Charles’s gaze turned cold as he stared at me.
- “Now, even if you want to protect that idiot, I’m afraid it won’t be easy!”
- I took a deep breath and calmly gave a faint, mocking smile.
- “Don’t worry. I have no intention of saving that bastard anymore.”
- A hint of sarcasm flickered in my eyes as I added.
- “This time, I want to divorce Julian. Can you help me?”
