Chapter 2 Your Heart Belongs To Me

  • The scene that had unfolded before Xu Muqing’s eyes had seemed so surreal, causing her to have a concern for doubt.
  • Quickly, she looked at Li Hang and asked anxiously, “Can… Can you show me your wrist?”
  • Heart racing, she blinked her eyes in anticipation.
  • She had kept her twinkling pupils fixated on Li Hang.
  • “Sure.” He immediately stretched out his hand towards Xu Muqing.
  • Scrutinizing the arm before her like a hawk towards its’ prey, Xu Muqing felt a rush of disappointment sweep over her.
  • The boy who had promised to marry her from years ago had a massive scar on his wrist.
  • As time had passed, this scar had become the only symbol that she could use to identify her fiancée.
  • Yet, this man standing before her had a lack of the similar scar.
  • Li Hang apologized to her in his heart, as he witnessed the disappointment grow in her eyes, However, this was not the right time to reveal his identity to her.
  • Furthermore, the scar on his wrist had faded over time with medical treatment.
  • Meanwhile, Li Hang’s was hiding the chocolate tin in his coat, far away from Xu Muqing.
  • She must not see this, otherwise she would definitely recognize me right away!
  • As Li Hang looked at her, he could feel his heart pounding.
  • The invincible Guardian of the Red Sea was actually feeling nervous?!
  • “While your heart surgery is successful...”
  • Li Hang began to speak, soon interrupted by a panicked Liu Yufen, “Is there a complication?”
  • “Her heart disease is congenital. Hence, it would take quite an extensive amount of time for her rehabilitation.”
  • Upon hearing Li Hang’s words, Liu Yufen and Xu Xiaoyang felt as if a huge weight had been lifted off of their shoulders.
  • However, the relief did not last for long as Li Hang blurted out, “As for such, from today onwards, I would need to be by her side twenty-four-seven.”
  • The Xu family looked at one another with confusion.
  • After a while, Liu Yufen mumbled, “What do you mean by that?”
  • Li Hang’s lips curled up into a crooked smile.
  • He fished out a paper from his coat, passing it to Xu Muqing.
  • Upon reading the contents of the paper, the latter’s eyes widened with bewilderment, head whipping up in an instant.
  • “Mom, Dad! How could you ever agree to such an absurdity!?”
  • Liu Yufen and Xu Xiaoyang were dumbstruck by her claims as they asked, “Huh? What absurdity?”
  • When they read the contents, they were left speechless.
  • “No, right before Qingqing had entered the operation room, we had only signed the surgical consent document...”
  • “You’re right, this here is the surgical consent form. These two documents form a complete set of the consent document.” As he spoke, Li Hang presented another document to them. “The moment you had signed on this form, you have agreed to me becoming your son-in-law.”
  • W--what?! What on earth is going on?!
  • Xu Muqing and her parents were stupefied.
  • “Additionally, this contract is legally enforceable, effective immediately. In another words, I am now your legal son-in-law.”
  • In order to remain anonymous by Xu Muqing’s side, Li Hang had invested tons of effort into coming up with a perfect plan.
  • After much brainstorming, he had thought of this ridiculous yet effective method.
  • Struggling to understand the situation at hand, Liu Yufen and Xu Xiaoyang exchanged worried glances.
  • As the head of the family, Xu Xiaoyang immediately stepped forward. Smiling wryly, he had given up his best attempt at persuasion, “Doc…doctor Li, while my family owns a modest business, it has been going downhill for a while now. We are even at risk of liquidation.”
  • “Oh, it’s fine. I am pretty rich myself anyway.”
  • Hearing the blunt rejection, Xu Xiaoyang beckoned at his wife to speak up.
  • Liu Yufen took the signal and asked Li Hang sincerely, “Boy, have you thought this through? Is this really what you want?”
  • Li Hang turned around before smiling tenderly at Xu Muqing. “She is my patient. I will take full responsibility of her. From now on, her heart belongs to me.”
  • Upon hearing Li Hang’s declaration, the Xu Family turned to face each other in disbelief.
  • Liu Yufen held her head in her hands as she thought to herself, there must be something wrong with his head! Which man in the right mind would allow themselves to be the one marrying into another family?
  • That bright, confident smile on Li Hang’s face had only seemed foolish in her eyes.
  • “Ring....ring.... ring...”
  • Right at this moment, Xu Xiaoyang’s phone rang.
  • His face was paper pale after picking up the call. He stuttered in response to the caller, “What... what do you want? 20 million?!”
  • Xu Xiaoyang was completely stunned at the request. His company was already on the brink of liquidation. How in the world would he be able to produce such an astronomical sum of money?!
  • “Please, I’m begging you! Let my son off! I don’t have so much money!”
  • As he pleaded to the caller, the call was cut off abruptly. Xu Xiaoyang’s heart crashed to rock bottom as he shut his eyes in despair.
  • He was barely fifty but his face had already shriveled up like an old man.
  • He was pragmatic and honest.
  • After he had graduated from university, he had started his own company. He had been an honest and trustworthy businessman throughout his years of doing business. However, he soon became crippled after a car accident three years ago.
  • Since then, the company had begun to fall apart.
  • Xu Muqing, who was academically excellent, had returned too late to be able to assist her father’s business right after her graduation from Yanjing University.
  • The company was long past its former glory.
  • To make things worse, someone had been constantly meddling in their business. Consequently, the past two years were a time of tribulation for the entire family.
  • It was heart wrenching to see the devastation on her father’s face. Xu Muqing quickly asked, “Dad, what happened?”
  • With a heavy sigh, Xu Xiaoyang told her the truth.
  • Her biological brother, Xu Haoran, had resorted to gambling in an attempt to fund her surgery.
  • Even as a child, Xu Haoran had been worrisome for the family.
  • However, his intention this time had purely gone towards saving his sister.
  • Only his method was foolish!
  • Now, he was slapped with a huge debt of 20 million and was currently held hostage by a man named “Black Panther.”
  • “Dad, this Black Panther is infamous within the Ning Province for his viciousness. Haoran is going to be beaten to death by him!”
  • Without hesitation, Xu Muqing lifted her blankets, struggling to get off the bed.
  • Suddenly, Li Hang’s hands stretched out, lightly pressing onto her shoulders.
  • Her skin was soft and tender.
  • From his palm, he could feel her distinct warmth.
  • His nose had caught the scent of the light perfume that she had been wearing too.
  • “You cannot get off the bed. Leave your brother to me.”
  • “To you?” Xu Muqing stared wide-eyed at Li Hang.
  • “If you promise to keep me by your side, I will save your brother. Not only that, I will bring him back in alive in one piece, kicking.”
  • Xu Muqing became silent as she deliberated on his offer.
  • That little boy from the past had occupied her heart for a long time.
  • While she had no idea where he could possibly be right now, she still held onto their promise, believing firmly that he would be back for her one day!
  • All of her thoughts and worries was reflected on her expression, as was noticed by Li Hang.
  • He quickly comforted her while smiling tenderly, “Don’t get me wrong, I will only be responsible for your heart. When your heart fully recovers, you can leave me if you wish to. I will disappear from your life without second thought.”
  • Xu Muqing kept her eyes peeled on her doctor.
  • In fact, she hadn’t gotten a good look of his face as he had kept his mask on all the time.
  • When she had first seen him, she had thought that this man had looked familiar to her.
  • His smile was dull and silly even.
  • Yet, it reminded her of the boy from the past.
  • Moreover, they shared the exact same name!
  • Sadly, there was no scar on his wrist.
  • Are they the same person?
