Chapter 3 You Are An Abomination!

  • —Fiona—
  • “Of mates and bonds. Of hearts and love. Of wolves and full moons.”
  • “Of mates and curses. Of hearts and hatred. Of wolves and dark sky.”
  • “Everything is not enough. Yet nothing will ever be enough.”
  • I cannot specifically tell where I read the words from but one thing I was sure of, is that I shouldn't know these words.
  • Heaven doesn't look like a pleasant place. At least not for a wolf who couldn't shift like me. I have no idea if I have dissolved in the stomach of the repulsive species or if my soul was simply floating.
  • Ahead of me is a palace. A lovely palace made from stud gold and shiny colors. Yet the dark clouds that surrounded its sky loomed danger. My feet should be glued to the floor but something keeps pushing me forward.
  • Towards the palace. Inside the chambers. To the dungeons. Past the room of doom. To a cloaked door. A wood that smelled ancient yet familiar. Dangerous yet thrilling.
  • My skin was tingling, something ahead of this door was calling out to me. My gaze drifted around, landing on a subtle inked carving just around the silver knob. A crest of some kind.
  • I leaned forward, a little lower and I heard the thudding of wood and screams on the opposite end.
  • ‘Let me out! Let me out! You wench! You are an abomination! Abominations all of you. Let me out! LET ME OUT!’
  • The last thud drove me backward. An invisible force that made me shivery and scared. Whimpered all my locomotions and made me a pool of jello on the ground. The crest turned slightly, a dark and dangerous feminine voice grunting on the other end.
  • I picked myself up, turned around as I stumbled against clay walls, granite and concrete and ran out. Away from the palace. From the abode that smelled like home yet more like my end.
  • “It's normal that people scream when they are about to die.” was the first thing I heard the rogue king say once I was conscious enough to make it out of that horrible dream.
  • Judging from the since that followed, they had been discussing something. I wanted to speak as well but my mouth was heavy.
  • “She isn't breathing.” The Lycan King comments, his voice soft and concerned. “She might really be dead.”
  • Another round of silence.
  • “We should kill her.” The rogue king suggested and warm hands circled around my neck.
  • My body was moving against it, trying to fight it but from the way no one was saying a thing, my internal struggles weren't quite reaching the conscious world.
  • “Don't be impulsive Xander.” The Lycan King warned.
  • “Xander is right. You saw what happened Christian. And even if you didn't clearly see as much as we did, you can see the mark on her.” He paused and I heard a silent curse. “For all we know that witch could have set us up. She didn't look back for once!”
  • “We don't know for sure if the lady is dead.”
  • I am not fucking dead you three idiots!
  • “Dead, alive? It doesn't matter. How do we explain what happened with her? And this mark?” The hands around my neck moved to my shoulder, gently caressing before hissing loudly. “They sent us a fucking human!”
  • “Just because she can't shift doesn't mean she is human.” The Zen Alpha countered.
  • “You know judging by the fact that she is from your side, this is looking a little suspicious for you.”
  • “Can we make out a plan? You can kill each other after." I heard the Lycan King shift around me, huge hands touching my forehead. “She is burning. Too much infact.”
  • “We should kill her and be sure she is dead.” The Rogue king repeated.
  • “It is the best solution for our situation. But Xander we can't m unnecessarily kill her before the fucking banquet.” The Zen Alpha countered. “And for once, I would very much like us to not do this. That…that thing hasn't even happened yet.”
  • The Lycan King was the only one who kept mute as the Rogue king placed his hands around my neck again. “The lady shouldn't be killed.”
  • “Did you develop feelings in the past five minutes or what?” He accused.
  • “If she is gone, how do we explain…whatever happened just then?” He argued, and I was glad he seemed to be the only relatable person among them.
  • “More reasons why we have to. What do you want to fucking say to tell the general Elders? How do we explain that this practically human thing did….whatever
  • phenomenon happened back there? And this fucking hideous mark? What if Chloe smells it?” He lowered his tone to a whisper. “We could lose our fucking heads…don't you get it? This is.. this.. whatever happened is forbidden. I am sure of it.”
  • I struggled with my movements, doing my best to escape from the prison my own body put me in.
  • “Let me do it.” The Lycan King finally offered and the hands left my neck, the cold blade of a sharp object replacing it. “This could start another…”
  • I jerked awake. My body immediately scooting backwards until I met a solid surface. They looked shocked. A little scared even.
  • “You fuckers!” I cursed. The rumors about them were true. “All you do is kill.” I tried to get on my feet as the Lycan king moved closer. “Not another step Christian.”
  • My shoulder hurts. The harsh stinging wave made me tumble over as I reached to the tree for support.
  • “Look at that? Just who we were hoping to see.” Xander gave me a smile that was genuinely fake and I rolled my eyes.
  • “You were going to kill me.” I said to him. “You were fucking going to kill me!” I shouted, my voice echoing back at me in the forest.
  • “Easy. Calm down.” Christian took a step forward and I felt the strange sense around him.
  • Fuck it felt like my shoulder was on fire.
  • “I will report this to the general Elders.” They can't just kill and always get away with it. So what if they are special kings.
  • “And say what?” Elijah spread his arms out. “That's we tried to kill you? If you walk that corner and get to the main road…” he pointed behind him. “...all you will find is a wrecked cad, dead driver and nothing else.”
  • “Liar…those…those…” the flagellatas. “...did you kill them?”
  • “They vaporized into God knows where.” Xander answered. “And you are human!”
  • “An atrocity on its own.” Christian added.
  • ‘I am not human. I am…”
  • “A wolf that can't shift. Correct me if I am wrong Fiona but you are way past fifteen aren't you?” my lips were sealed. “Way past the shifting age. Something that should have been told to the council of general Elders when you turned fifteen.” Elijah's eyes darkened with an interesting glow, like he had caught onto a weakness that would rather me.
  • “The fact that it wasn't, means that you didn't say.” Xander's voice has never sounded more displeasing at the moment.
  • They found out. They found out my fucking ssecret. I had managed to hide it since I was thirteen and thankfully it was easier because I was the pack's least favorite. I pretended to be an omega, hid myself away when the pack went on general hunting.
  • I had found out when I was fourteen about the country’s traditional beliefs when a boy my age then was out away. Any wolf who isn't able to shift by fifteen, is a taboo. A curse.
  • I would be banished to the land of the unliving. Right across the county. Where the evil witches and vampires can extract my soul and use it for God knows what.
  • “You can't…” I was trembling all over. My body was hurting and weak.
  • “Listen, the only reason we wanted to kill you is because we thought you were dead and we didn't want to leave chances of you waking and telling people what happened.” Christian explained.
  • I leaned against the tree, craving support. “Shouldn't you tell the general Elders?”
  • “That we encountered some strange specially trained species that obviously aren't from this world? How would you rule it?”
  • The Rogue King's voice was clear. The general Elders consist of people who favored the witches. It will be easy for the witches to pin this blame on them. Especially since they claim there isn't any evidence.
  • “So I shouldn't say a thing?” I carefully suggested looking from Christian to Elijah.
  • Elijah gave me an adequate nod. “Exactly. And I hope you have cloth that covers your shoulders?”
  • I finally managed a glance at my shoulder, somewhere between the dent of my clavicle and chest bone was a grime pale yet flaky black mark. “What the fuck is this?”
  • “Demon's mark.” Xander replied.
  • “How do I remove it?” Surely, this shouldn't be caught on me.
  • All three men glanced at each other, a silent conversation passing between them. For men who were supposed to be enemies, they sure look too chummy together.
  • Christian finally stepped forward and extended his hands to me for a shake. The same sign that sealed a gentleman's deal. “We will find you a spell for it, keep your wolfless secret and offer protection for the next one month.” My eyes flickered to the strong palm and back at him. He wants something. “In return, you promise to keep your mouth shut about the main cause of the accident and grant each of us a wish when the time comes.”
  • The idea is pretty good. This is the best way to stay alive for the next month. But granting these men a wish each…
  • It sounded like I would be getting more than I bargained for. I grabbed his hand and he returned it with a light squeeze, those dark soulless eyes holding secrets that were beyond his age.
  • I may have sealed a deal with them but I know for sure these three men feared something.
  • Something that happened during the fight. Something I can't bring myself to remember. Something I will destroy them with.
  • Afterall, my secret is only safe with me.
