- I was smiling like a big fool the whole way home. My hands were in my pockets, and I kept replaying her laugh in my head. Keyla. The way she looked at me earlier, the way her eyes softened, the way her lips curved when she almost smiled. That little heart-shaped muffin I gave her? It was dumb, but she looked at it like it meant something. That was enough to keep me grinning like a teenage boy with his first crush.
- By the time I got to the house, I was humming under my breath. I even kicked the front door open in a playful way and shouted, “I’m home!” like I was in some old movie.
