• Laurel Hall stood rooted to the spot, hesitating for a moment before deciding to take out her phone. She switched on the flashlight and shone it downwards. Below was pitch black, but she could just make out the outline of some stairs. It seemed like she could go down there.

Laurel Hall walked along the passageway for about a hundred meters or so when she saw a staircase leading upwards ahead.
