- Alaric nodded slowly. He looked like a man who had braced for a slap and wasn't sure what to do with his hands now that it hadn't come.
- "But I'll tell you this much." My voice wobbled, and I let it go. "Three days ago I wouldn't have walked across a street to save you. Tonight I held your hand in a car. So I don't think my answer is no."
