Chapter 2

  • Chapter 2 A STRANGE VISIT
  • Megan Owen
  • The deafening beep of a machine went deep into my ears, it was an overwhelming beep... beep... I opened my eyes slowly, trying to assimilate where I was, several memories came to my mind, and with pain I understood that it had happened the last time I was conscious.
  • "Oh, well, Mrs. Owen woke up!" "I shook my head slowly and a nurse was putting some medicine or something in my IV, I looked at my hand and sure enough, I was in a hospital!" That's when I remembered what Mason had done to me.
  • "How long have I been here?"
  • "Two days, Mrs. Owen, your husband is very worried after his accident."
  • I squeezed my eyes, you damn wretch!
  • "Is he here?"
  • "Yes, ma'am, I'll call you to come and talk to you," I took the nurse's hand tightly, I didn't want him to leave and leave me alone with him, and I needed to know something else.
  • "Miss, don't go, please wait, and my son?"
  • The woman sighed and stared at me longingly.
  • "I'm sorry ma'am, Owen, you had a loss, I'm really sorry."
  • "No!" "I screamed inconsolably, I tried to get out of that bed, but it was impossible, I hurt to the last bone.
  • My crying was heartbreaking, the pain of having lost my treasure was irreparable, I would have remained silent, as I regretted not having fled in time from the arms of that damned ruffian. I loved him, but with what he did to me, any good feelings faded and became a deep hatred for his being,
  • He was going to repay me.!
  • Two minutes later, a bouquet of roses appeared through the door and behind it, Mason, dressed casually, and displayed a smile as if it were a visit to the doctor for appendicitis.
  • "Wife!! They gave me the news that you had woken up, what happiness, what a hard accident you had, but you will get better."
  • Mason came to the table, put down the bouquet of flowers and kissed me on the forehead, Hypocrite!
  • I looked at the nurse who smiled at him, as if he were the perfect man, and there I understood that it happened, he had already arranged for everything to pass as an accident.
  • "Yes, it was hard." I replied, feeling like my heart was coming out of my throat and was about to explode to leave me lifeless and save me from this suffering.
  • The nurse again smiled like a bitch and looked at my husband with a delighted face. "I'll leave you to talk, it's been a very tedious couple of days, excuse me."
  • The woman went out, and as soon as she did, the loving and compassionate husband disappeared.
  • "Megan, you were saved, bitch, but there won't be one next."
  • "You're a wretch, you killed my son, I'm going to report you."
  • "No one is going to believe you; you have a history of schizophrenia."
  • "Rouse, Rouse saw it all," I shouted in a desperate act.
  • Mason laughed in my face, mocking my pain.
  • "Rouse?" She must be where her family was a hundred years ago my dear wife, so it's just you and me.
  • I looked at him with contempt, I wanted to have the strength and courage to take him by the neck and end his existence, but I was nothing more than a stupid coward, emotionally dependent.
  • "I want a divorce," I told him without further ado.
  • "Sure, honey, I'll give it to you if you give up your entire share of our estate."
  • "I won't, I'll go to trial and fight for what's mine."
  • Mason snorted, "Nothing is yours, stupid, now I want to see you very calm, my boss is outside, he is a very stupid person who wants to visit you, the hypocrite wants to pass for an empath, when at work he is nothing more than a bitter old man. "
  • "And if I don't, what?" Sentence
  • "If you don't, I'll take your little sister out of the foundation where she is and leave them in the street, at two o'clock."
  • "I'm going to put you in jail, you bastard," I shouted.
  • "You can't, everyone is on my side, a prestigious man like me, he doesn't beat so quickly.
  • Mason came out and my heart beat even more violently, the frustration and helplessness that being married to him caused me, they were going to kill me.
  • I whimpered, with an immense desire to scream, but the intoxicating perfume that peeked through the door flooded my nostrils, the woody-toned perfume of a man, was delicious. And it calmed my crazy desires a little.
  • Mason entered the room again and behind him, a gentleman, his boss. A middle-aged man, but incredibly preserved. Her hair was starting to turn silver, and a few wrinkles surrounded the corner of her eyes. His perfect white teeth gave me a smile, and his worked body showed how careful he was.
  • "Good afternoon, Mrs. Owen, how are you?"
  • "Hello... I hesitated embarrassedly; I couldn't imagine my presentation.
  • "Dear, he's my boss, Mr. Sawyer Mackenzie"
  • "Dera? Miserable dog" I thought.
  • "I... I am —I swallowed dry —I am Megan Owen."
  • "Nice to meet you, I'm sorry for what happened to you, Mason told me, and I want to tell you that you have all my support for his recovery, the company will take care of all the cats, although it was not a work accident, our motto has always been to support our employees."
  • "Oh, it's not necessary, Mr. Mackenzie," I replied embarrassedly. "My husband will pay for everything, right?"
  • Mason 's cheeks flushed immediately, and his eyes darkened.
  • "Yes darling, I'll pay the bill, now, I have to go, I'm going to leave them," Mason said unconcerned. "You know dear, how hard the accident was."
  • I felt his words as a threat, I swallowed the bitter taste of pain and sighed.
  • "Well Mr. Mackenzie, I don't want to take up too much of your time, so I thank you for coming here, thank you for your support."
  • Mackenzie stared at me, his expression changed, and in his gray eyes there was an air of compassion that no one ever felt for me, it was as if he knew the truth. He bit his lower lip and shook his head.
  • "Mrs. Owen, I don't mean to be reckless, but I know something is very wrong. First of all, I am very sorry for his loss."
  • "Thank you, sir, but it's all right," My voice was getting more and more broken.
  • "Mason is a good employee, but a nasty person, and seeing you I have confirmed what I already suspected, he mistreats you, right?" My husband's boss crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow as he looked at me.
  • I remained silent, granting him the power to assume everything, who was I going to deny a reality as absolute as mine? Although his boss could do it for me?
  • The tears fell again, and I choked on tears, a heartbreaking and unrestrained cry, which made all my feelings well.
  • "It's okay to cry Mrs. Owen, what's not right is that you keep allowing that to beat you, I can help you."
  • "How?" How? If he has me threatened."
  • Sawyer sat down next to me and sighed.
  • "I can help you, Mrs. Owen," Mackenzie was silent, "I wish my sister had received help when she needed it, maybe she would be alive, her husband's cursed man killed her mercilessly in a case of domestic abuse, do you want to be one more victim?"
  • The man spoke so sensibly that he seemed to convince me, now my concentration rested not on his magnificent physique, but on his attractive brain, although... what would he gain from that? Or what was he up to?
  • "I don't know what Mr. Mackenzie intends, this is all very strange, you are my husband's boss, what has it to do with me?"
  • "I just want to help her, that's all."
  • "For what purpose? You don't even know me."
  • "Please, Mrs. Owen, maybe it's not the time to talk, but I'm willing to help you, do you understand what I'm saying?"
  • I looked at him strangely, help me? He barely knew me, what was going on? At least it was a dirty trap by Mason. I couldn't afford to fall into their game.
  • "Go away, Mr. Mackenzie, and don't come back here."
  • "Please, Megan, let me help you."
  • "Please leave, I don't need your help or anyone else's, get out or I'll call someone!"
  • The handsome man got up from his chair and shook his head. He took a card out of his pocket and put it on the bedside table.
  • "If you need help, don't hesitate to look for me, it's your life that's at stake and I'm willing to help you.
  • "I don't need your help, goodbye. I laid my head looking away, and he left the room. Again, I immersed myself in tears, completely helpless, because there was not a single reason why a stranger like him would want to help me.
  • I don't know what I wanted, the only help I needed at that moment was revenge against my husband Mason Briston, in one way or another, he should.
  • Pay for the death of our son.
