• After tonight, they would start living in the same house, and Laura wondered if what happened tonight would ever be mentioned again as she closed her eyes.
• Chris tapped her gently when they got to the house and held the car door open for her. Laura staggered out of the car, half-awake, and walked barefoot inside.
• He picked up her shoes from the car and followed her inside, helping her with the door so she wouldn’t bump into it. He guided her to a seat once they were inside.
