• Snow blanketed the entire village. It covered rooftops, buried fences, and piled against wooden walls high enough that some doors had to be dug out before they could open. Warriors moved through the narrow paths they had carved between homes, pushing aside fresh drifts that the wind kept dragging back into the village.
