  • Diego crouched behind a stack of rusted barrels, the dim glow from a flickering light above barely illuminating the warehouse’s damp, oil-stained floor. He tightened his grip on his silenced pistol, his breath measured, controlled. Across from him, Mateo gave a nod, his blade catching the weak light for an instant before disappearing into the shadows.
  • They moved in tandem, a silent wraith-like presence slipping through the cracks of Rodrigo’s stronghold. A guard rounded the corner, his rifle slung lazily over his shoulder. In a flash, Mateo struck, the knife slicing cleanly across the man’s throat. A gurgled gasp, then silence.
  • Diego stepped over the body, eyes locked ahead. Every second counted. Every breath Mariana took in this hell was one too many.
