Chapter 2 It Was An Accident

  • “Something important? What exactly are you hoping to hear from her? Huh?” he chuckled softly.
  • The eerie sound caused goosebumps to rise all over Bai Yunjin. Then he stood up, grabbed his jacket, and walked towards her. The woman's eyes widened in shock as he came closer.
  • Over the years, she had arrived to a conclusion—she was terrified of Huo Chen.
  • His unpredictable mood swings and perverted interests scared her to the core. Even hearing his name intimidated her.
  • He was less than a meter away from her. The threatening look in his narrowed eyes caused her to retreat, but the railing from the stairs blocked her escape route.
  • “Let me guess. The most important thing you wish to hear from Grandma is our marriage. Am I right?”
  • Huo Chen finally stopped when he saw her astonishment. Standing at 185 cm, his tall frame resembled a skyscraper that towered over her petite body.
  • The atmosphere was tense between them.
  • “I-I... I wasn't...” Bai Yunjin shook her head vehemently.
  • “Don't bother denying and quit your pitiful act. Bai Yunjin, you really think I don't know what you've been plotting behind my back, don't you?”
  • There was sarcasm in his beautiful yet languid voice. “Once you're pregnant with my child, you'll become my wife legally and shed your filthy status as an illegitimate prostitute.”
  • He spoke slowly, enunciating every word in her face.
  • Bai Yunjin went ashen. Although she was being humiliated, she dared not show her displeasure.
  • Nevertheless, she tried to defend herself. “It's not what you think. It was an accident.”
  • “An accident?” Huo Chen scoffed as though he had heard something ridiculous. “Are you telling me this is an accident?” he asked. His voice sounded as cold as the wine cellar.
  • Her expression was a mixture of fear and embarrassment. As she swayed, he yanked her wrist and used his body to stabilize her against the handrail.
  • He stared at her emotionlessly. “Do you really think you can marry me as planned just because Grandma is backing you up?”
  • “N-No, no.” Bai Yunjin's face was devoid of all color.
  • “You...”
  • The doors of the villa opened just as he opened his mouth. Mr. Qiao, his assistant, dressed impeccably in a business suit, entered. “Sir, the car is waiting outside to take you to the office.”
  • The atmosphere felt suffocating from his domineering aura.
  • “Fine,” his boss replied sullenly but his eyes never left Bai Yunjin's face.
  • “Chen...” the latter called weakly. Her face as white as a piece of paper.
  • Hearing her call his name sent a shock through his entire body. The overwhelming emotions softened his expression, but he quickly tucked them away.
  • A long, inexplicable laugh erupted from the man as he stared at the woman's beautiful face. “Do you know why I didn't raise any objections to my grandmother's arrangement to let you stay here?”
  • That question puzzled Bai Yunjin.
  • He met her confused eyes and let out a sneer before he mocked her, “No man would say no to sex with no strings attached.”
