Xia He sat at the side quietly. At the sight of Gu Zechuan doting and adoring their child, she sighed in relief as her biggest worry was proven unfounded. Now, she could finally entrust the child to Gu Zechuan’s hands in peace, knowing that he’d love him more than anything else in the world. After all, he was his child.
"Gu Zechuan, if only we can be together like this sooner, then maybe none of the things would have happened." Xia He commented, watching him as he played with his child.
Guilt overflowed from Gu Zechuan’s eyes when he heard Xia He’s passing comment, though it would be completely true. If he hadn’t mistreated her so, if his attitude wasn’t so bad towards her, he wouldn’t have had to endure being painfully separated from her for two entire years. Every day in the past two years, he’d wake up into consciousness, and into the painful yearning of desiring for something that he knew he would never again be able to have.
Gu Zechuan handed the baby to Xu Feng carefully, and sat down beside Xia He. He reached his hands out to take Xia He into his embrace again, and this time, Xia He didn’t refuse him. Instead, she allowed herself to be held in his embrace, quietly and obediently like a dove.
"I was wrong. I know, that I had been so wrong. The greatest fortune and my greatest happiness in life, is that you can find it in your heart to forgive me. And I will be with you for the rest of your life." Gu Zechuan said, with all of his heart. He had said it countless times already, in his dreams. And now, he decided, that every single day for the rest of her life, he would say it to Xia He, again and again. In the morning, in the evening, at nightfall, at the break of dawn, and at any other times he could remember, he would say it to her.
"That reminds me, how is Yang Qinglian?" Xia He suddenly asked.
