Chapter 3

  • I kept my hand on my belly, questioning him angrily.
  • "You were the one who pursued me in the beginning, saying I was elegant, classically beautiful, quiet, like an angel. And now you say I'm like a crazy woman?"
  • "Who can stay quiet when they see their husband being intimate with another woman?"
  • "The two of you have always been very close, so I didn't want to argue before, but today, your affair was LIVE for the whole world to see! You don't care about my feelings at all!!"
  • Today was just the final blow. Recalling all the grievances from before, my heart felt like it was being stabbed over and over.
  • "Ethan, I am the wife who vowed to stand with you for a lifetime! When I had a car accident, you just had to take her to work. When I was sick and hospitalized for surgery, you had to accompany her to bake cakes. When the doctor said there was a problem with the baby, you had to accompany her to buy clothes."
  • "Every time I needed you the most, you were by her side, why don't you just marry her?"
  • I was angry, sad, aggrieved, resentful!
  • I couldn't control my emotions, crying until my eyes swelled, breathing heavily, lips turning purple.
  • "You were flirting right in front of me. You were hard because of her, your crotch even rubbed against her lower body, everyone saw it. What is this if not cheating?"
  • "I am your wife, but I feel wronged and sad, you say I'm making a fuss for no reason. When she asks you to apologize, you obey so easily!!"
  • I poured out my sadness for a long time, but my husband didn't respond at all.
  • I wiped away my tears, trying to calm myself down, turned my head, and looked at the man beside me who remained silent.
  • I saw him pick up his phone, typing with one hand.
  • He was chatting with Vivian!!!!!
  • He wasn't listening at all!!!
  • In that moment, I threw away all my manners, love, and reason.
  • I didn't want to be in the same space as this man anymore!
  • The glass shard in my hand plunged directly into his shoulder, piercing deeply.
  • The screeching of brakes, Ethan's cursing, and the screams of passersby all sounded at the same time.
  • When I came to my senses, the car was just a few centimeters away from hitting the guardrail.
  • I touched my stomach, trembling all over, we were so close, my child and I could have died.
  • Ethan's face was as white as paper, at the moment he slammed on the brakes, he instinctively protected me.
  • He anxiously checked me up and down like a real husband, his eyes filled with fear:
  • "Honey, are you and the baby okay? Do we need to go to the hospital?"
  • A faint warmth surged in my heart.
  • He still loves me.
  • He was just too impulsive earlier, he didn't mean to hurt me.
  • I was about to respond when Ethan's phone rang.
  • He immediately let go of me, who was still trembling, and answered the call.
  • Vivian's panicked and crying voice came through the receiver.
  • "Ethan, a man is harassing me, please come and save me!"
  • Ethan was ready to start the car immediately.
  • I held his hand and, with a last bit of hope, I said, "Call the police, they'll come faster. My stomach doesn't feel good, let's go to the hospital."
  • "Dear, both the baby and I are scared, we need to go to the hospital!"
  • The man I had been in a relationship with for three years and married to for two, at this moment, looked at me with disgust in his eyes.
  • He anxiously checked Vivian's location on his phone, then turned to me and shouted:
  • "If you don't want to go, then get out of the car. I have to go!"
  • I was stunned, and instinctively asked, "What about me?"
  • Without even looking at me, Ethan said to himself, "Vivian is a fragile girl, easily bullied!! If something happens, I will regret it for the rest of my life!!"
  • I listened blankly to his words, unable to think, and let Ethan open the car door and push me out without hesitation.
  • He drove off without a second thought.
  • I chuckled coldly, silently mocking myself in my heart.
  • In Ethan's mind, Vivian had always been a girl, all that so-called "brotherhood" was just an excuse.
  • And in his mind, I was not important compared to Vivian.
  • I sat on the ground, holding my occasionally throbbing stomach, watching the car drive away, feeling the love that once existed slowly dying.
  • I was helped to the hospital by a kind passerby.
  • After the doctor's examination, it was said that the baby in my stomach had been greatly stimulated by emotional fluctuations and should not be further stimulated.
  • I spent a long time trying to calm my emotions, underwent many tests, and was prescribed a lot of medication by the doctor.
  • Alone, I walked to my doorstep, it was already 3 a.m.
  • Those so-called brothers had already left, leaving my home dirty and messy.
  • Even Ethan wasn't home.
  • I wanted to talk to him, to tell him that our baby was in danger.
  • No matter what, he had to be a responsible father and come back to take care of the baby!
  • It wasn't until the next day at noon that Ethan finally came home.
  • I sat on the couch watching him hurriedly pack his bags, and he didn't even look at me once.
  • He didn't mention anything about yesterday.
  • No apologies, no concern.
  • After packing up, he seemed to finally notice there was still a living person in the living room. He came over and hugged me, saying,
  • "Darling, the company just notified me of an urgent business trip. Stay at home and take care of yourself, okay?"
  • But I clearly saw a message from Vivian on his phone screen.
  • "Have you left yet? I'm waiting for you at the airport."
  • Ethan turned and hurried away.
  • It was all too ridiculous that I couldn't even bring myself to be angry.
  • I silently returned to the bedroom, took out a phone that hadn't been used for a long time, and dialed the only number inside.
  • The person on the other end of the phone sounded a bit excited and immediately said, "Young Mistress, what can I do for you?"
  • I took a deep breath, took one last look at the house I had lived in for many years, and decisively spoke.
  • "I'm getting a divorce. Come pick me up within an hour."
