- Matthew’s POV
- I parked the SUV in my usual spot at the edge of the college lot, engine idling low, my gaze scanning the flow of students. From this vantage point, I had a clear view of the front steps and the stream of young people flooding out, their laughter, careless chatter, and bursts of energy filling the air.
- I didn’t have to be the one sitting here. I could’ve sent one of the men. Hell, I should’ve. It wasn’t my job to babysit Marco’s little sister. My duty was bigger, heavier, built on blood and violence.
