• Elena stared at Vincent, her heart pounding in her chest. His words lingered in the air, thick and heavy. She wanted to push them away, to ignore the warning in his voice, but something about the way he looked at her sent a shiver down her spine.
• "What do you mean?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
• Vincent exhaled, running a hand through his hair. "Damien doesn’t just want you, Elena. He wants to break you. And if you think Alexander is bad, you have no idea what he’s capable of."
