Chapter 3 – Princess And The Pauper

  • Serena
  • I was sitting there bored out of my mind when Clara squealed excitedly. “He is here!” Since we got here, she hasn’t touched a single drop of alcohol. I rolled my eyes, but I got to admire her determination to meet the prince.
  • “How do know that him? You’ve never met him before.” I am deadpan, showing zero interest to the gathering crowd. The smell of cigarettes and alcohol make me irritate and clog my nose.
  • “You know he is here, when a crowd start to gather.” A crowd had already gathers around some guy in the direction Clara pointed to.
  • “The prince had arrived!” Someone announced, screaming at the top of their lung. Guys cheer and girl scream as the crowd around him get bigger.
  • Damn, these people treated him like some big celebrity. I have got to admit, he is good looking. Clara was excited as a hippy on drug. She jumps up and starts zigzagging through the crowd like sonic the hedgehog.
  • I tried to follow her but lost her as more people formed a circle around the prince charming. One minute her red dress was flashing in front of me and the next she was gone.
  • When I finally pushed my way through, I tripped on someone foot and fell. My eyes shut on instinct bracing for the fall, but someone caught me, pulling me into their arms. The snaky little fingers slowly trail down my back, stopping on my waist.
  • My eyes open slowly, and I come face to face with the prince himself: Ace Anderson. Our eyes met for the first time, and everything went silent; even the thumping of my heart seemed to be louder than the deafening music.
  • He leans forward and whisper, “have we met before?” into my ears. I cringe.
  • “For the prince of party, that all you got.” I rolled my eyes at the cliché pick up line. “We hit the 21 century a long time ago.” His lips curl upward and smile at me. good looking and captivating smile. That is the whole package.
  • “For someone who dress like a pauper, you sure know how to fall like a princess.” He eyes me up and down and tighten his grip around me waist, pulling me closer to him.
  • It took me a few seconds to register his word, but when I did, I pushed him off. He basically inferencing that I purpose fall in-front of him to get his attention.
  • *Cough* “Your level of narcissism is choking me, choking me.” I cough and gag to mock him.
  • Before he could throws any more remarks, I saw a flash of Clara’s read dress heading in the direction of the bathroom and took off in that direction. But I was second too late, and she was gone by the time I got there.
  • I run around the place panicking like a mad women, asking for Clara. I had search everywhere. Upstairs, downstairs, outside. She is nowhere to be found.
  • I can’t call Clara because she has left her phone with me. By now it was nearing 1 am in the morning and the party had lighten up. Traffic had died down, with people passing out on the couch and trash everywhere. But my friend was nowhere to be found.
  • My frantic search ended at the front porch with my face buried in my palms. Where cold she have gone if she was not here anymore? I can just imagine the headline of the news report tomorrow.
  • ‘Body found after girl went missing at a stupid frap party.’ Oh, what will I do then? This is so damn fuck up!
  • My dreadful thoughts were cut off when I felt someone’s finger touching my hair. My neck is a sensitive spot, and I shudder away. I come face to face with Ace Anderson himself. Of course, why didn’t I just ask the devil himself.
  • “Have you seen my friend? Big eyes, shoulder length brown hair, red lips, and red tight body-con dress. She about my height and…ahh…” in my panic state, I lost what I was trying to describe to him.
  • “Wow, wow… take a deep breathe. Calm down.” He reaches out to rub my arm, but I jump back before he makes contact. I calm down after a couple deep breaths. “Have you seen my friend? Her name is Clara. She came here just to meet you.”
  • “As a matter of fact, I have. She was talking with my friend Aiden. They were talking and drinking, and then they walked out on me. Aiden texted me that they were going to his place for some one-on-one time.” My heart fell to the ground. Anderson light chuckle tell me everything.
  • I know my friend and she would never leave my side at a party. She wouldn’t just walk off with some random stranger of she was sober.
  • “You have to take me there right now!” I demand and worry for my friend and her wellbeing. He was shocked at my sudden outburst, oblivious to the seriousness of the situation.
  • I am nearing shouting at this guy and I’m not about to leave my friend tonight. Things like this may be normal to people like him but it is not to me and Clara. Clara may like to party, but she is no bedtime toy for some guy. She frowns upon it and swear to never be it.
  • “Now!” I demand again, nearly shouting in his face at this time.
  • “Ok, ok, calm down. Did you drive or you want to ride with me?” I thought about it and told him I would follow him with my car.
  • I was surprised that he gave in so easily, but that doesn’t matter now. I want to know where my friend is, and if he is the only one who can take me there.
  • Soon, we round the corner and come to a stop in front of another huge two-story home. I wasted no time to rush to the door and rapidly rang the doorbell.
  • “Stop it, you are going to break the doorbell. They are probably asleep by now. How about we come back tomorrow morning?” he suggested, but I’m not taking any of it.
  • “I’m taking my friend home tonight!” I said sternly and continued to ring the doorbell relentlessly. About a hundred and fifty thousand ring later, the door finally open revealing a man in his boxer.
  • “What the heck man!?” He yawns glaring at his friend and myself, tired cause I had just wake him up from his slumber.
  • “Aiden this…I’m sorry what is your name?” Anderson asks me, but that is not important right now.
  • “Is my friend with you?” I asked the guy whom I assumed was Aiden. Ignoring Anderson questions.
  • “Who? The red dress chick, yeah. She is in there sleeping.” I rush inside not bothering to ask for permission.
  • I was worried about Clara and her current state. The whole house was dim, with night light leading up the staircase to the second floor.
  • “Where is my friend?” I shouted angrily from what seems to be the living room. The guys turn to me as Anderson close the door behind him.
  • “She in my room.”
  • “Where?”
  • “Up the stairs, first room to your right.” I didn’t hesitate to rush upstairs and practically kick the door open. Clara was in there alright, sleeping soundly and naked. That could only mean one thing. She was taken advantage of.
  • I turn around as the two guys walk in. Furious, I flounced over and punched Aiden with so much force that he stumbled and fell to the floor.
  • “Ahh! Why you do that?” He cry as Anderson stands there, in awe of it all.
  • “Fuck you!” I cursed at him and turned back the sleeping Clara. “Clara, Clara wakes up, let go home.” After multiple calls, she finally stirs awake.
  • “Nana.” She called my name groggily, still buzz with a smile on her face. “I had the most beautiful dreams; I met my prince charming.”
  • “Your damn prince charming is a mother fucker that took advantage of you. Come on, let go home.” I glare at the two guys that just stand there watching our interaction.
  • “But I want to sleep. I’m so tired.” She yawns and whines like a baby.
  • “You can sleep when we get back to the dorm.” I put her dress back on and pulled her out of bed.
  • “What is this about? Why are you so mad?” He was still confused at the whole thing. He had follow for an explanation.
  • “You wouldn’t understand. Just leave us alone.” I warned him before getting into the driver seat and drove off.
  • When we got back to the dorm, she puked all over me. I clean up and change her before going to bed. I was tired and exhausted, but that nothing compare to the guilt that I had fail to protect her.
