Chapter 5 Phoenix

  • Iker looks at the tall man. He has a beard and looked dangerously handsome. The man was looking at Cristian and Iker looked at his brother too, to see him close his eyes.
  • "No, brother-" Iker tried shaking him.
  • "No, Iker, we need to get him to the packhouse soon. Only brother- in-law can do anything to help him" said Zal, ever the quick thinker.
  • However, they did not have to even move when a white wolf jumped on Cristian. Iker and Zal were about to pull the wolf when the tall man spoke.
  • "It's your brother- in -law," he said.
  • And finally, Iker looked at him properly.
  • Avadh froze when he felt those sharp eyes on him. His beast was clawing inside him to grab him and make him submit, to bond, to take him in his arms and care for him.
  • Avadh didn't move as he stood looking at Iker who had a blank expression on his face. Iker- then it struck-
  • Iker Maximiliano De Russe is his mate-
  • "Moon goddess, you are an interesting sadistic woman," thought Avadh as he looked at Iker from whose blank look it was evident that he has not realised that Avadh is his mate.
  • Avadh then looked at the other boy and then at his brother and brother in law. Ahem has gained his human form and his tears fell on Cristian's wounds. Ahem's tears healed him. It burned the wounds and the silver as Ahem looked on in amazement. As much amazement as the three onlookers.
  • "Only eternal devotion can heal a mate. I must say I never knew that you loved your mate this much," said Avadh as bent down beside his brother and Ahem collapsed onto Avadh's arms.
  • "Avadh-- ask him to wake up," said Ahem his tears streaming down non stop.
  • When they heard the name, both Zal and Iker looked at the man in surprise. Iker looked at Avadh- the King a moment more. Their eyes met before he looked back at his brother who was steadily breathing.
  • And then, Cristian opened his eyes. Ahem looks at him. Cristian smiles and pulled him into his arms not caring who saw.
  • All three looked away.
  • And then, Cristian looked around and spotted both his kid brothers safe and sound and then his eyes fell on Avadh.
  • "King," said Cristian.
  • "Not for you Alpha Cristian- Never for you," said Avadh.
  • "If it is just because I am your brother in law- I will find it difficult to accept," said Cristian teasing Avadh. Even Ahem broke a small smile where his face was pressed into Cristian's chest.
  • Avadh shook his head a bit.
  • "No, definitely not just because of that," said Avadh. It was difficult to control himself from not looking at Iker and study him.
  • They all returned to the pack house. Everyone was enquiring after the Alphas health and Cristian calmed them all down and turned his attention to Avadh.
  • And that was when everyone noticed Avadh who just entered. The power he oozed made even Alpha's of the pack bow. Iker alone stood looking unflinchingly at the man from head to toe. It was surprising, to say the least for Iker. He had expected an uglier man. But then again, it was his brother- in- law's genes, so it has got to do some good.
  • Iker was not going to bow before any Alpha, even if he is the King.
  • "Iker" called Cristian.
  • "Yes brother," said Iker
  • "Take Avadh and show him the guest room," he said.
  • Iker bit back a retort and said "Yes, of course" and walked away, expecting and not caring for Avadh to follow. But he could sense the man's footsteps.
  • "So Iker De Russe, finally we meet," said Avadh
  • "I was not aware that you wanted to meet me. Should I feel honoured?" asked Iker scathingly.
  • "Well, so what they say is true. You are a rude one," said Avadh and Iker turned and glared at Avadh who froze. The fury and the redness in Iker's face were making him more attractive.
  • They did not speak much after that. Iker stopped before the guest room and nodded.
  • "My room is next door and if you need anything, don't call me," said Iker and walked off.
  • Avadh looked on a small smile grazing his lips and he turned and went inside the room to freshen up. It has been a long day.

  • Dinner with the pack was interesting to say the least. For some reason Iker seemed distant with everyone and Avadh couldn't figure out why.
  • Cristian meanwhile was indulging Ahem eating everything that Ahem was putting onto his plate. Once they finished dinner, Cristian took Ahem to their room and he hugged Ahem and fell asleep in his arms. In the morning he woke up and smiled seeing Ahem's protective arm around him even when he was asleep.

  • Iker woke up late as usual. If there was one thing in which he was particular it was his sleep. He saw the golden wolf run to the forest. Iker decided to have some fun and jumped. He landed, his black fur glowing, the shiny golden glow in his eyes flashing as he chased after the golden wolf that was the King. In his rush, he did not see the silver handles tied between two trees.
  • Avadh sensed his mate in the forest. He turned and ran back. He saw Iker. Iker was in his human form and his mate was now howling in pain. Avadh broke the silver and took the burned hand in his arms and ran his palm through it. The injury healed. As soon as the magic got into his veins, Iker's wolf cried in joy-the wolf eyes showing through his human form. Iker transformed as did Avadh. He was panting looking at Avadh with an unbelievable look.
  • "Mate," mumbled Iker. Avadh nodded.
  • "I am not mating with you or leaving my land," said Iker.
  • "I really don't care. Trust me when I say that" said Avadh.
  • "Good," said Iker and grabbed his hand back from the man and sat back.
  • "However, As your mate, I am giving you an always open invitation to my land and my palace. But before you come, know this that my land comes first to me. If I have to choose between both, I will always choose my land, my duty and my people" said Avadh and got up.
  • He watched as Iker too got up. Iker pulled Avadh by his shirt.
  • " I am not going to be your second best and I will never come for you. I will never submit to an Alpha and especially not to the King" said Iker, and he backed away and then he took his wolf form and ran into the wild.
  • Iker couldn't believe it. That man, Avadh is his mate. He was not going to be someone's bitch and if he mated with the King that is essentially what he will be, Iker thought viciously.
  • And the man's sheer audacity to say that Iker would come second, always. Iker bit on his own tongue to stop the distressing howl of his wolf.
