Chapter 7

  • Wang Zhenyi was somewhat taken aback by her question. "Why do you think I'm not the emperor? Didn't I say that I just lost my memory?"
  • She shook her head. "This servant has cared for Your Majesty for fifteen years, from birth until now. There is nothing small about Your Majesty that this servant has missed. So, this servant knows that Your Majesty is not the true emperor."
  • Wang Zhenyi nodded, acknowledging the truth casually. "Well, are you going to report me to King Rong? Honestly, it's futile. King Rong already suspected that I am not the emperor."
  • Even if the situation worsened, and everyone aimed to overthrow him, or if his life became threatened, he would escape to another country.
  • Having a different life that was more conducive to his survival. He was confident in his ability to survive.
  • After all, this was merely ancient times, not as terrifying as the apocalypse and aliens.
  • Hearing Wang Zhenyi's words, the servant quickly shook her head vigorously. "No. This humble servant does not want Your Majesty to return to this place and suffer again. This humble servant only wants to ask, in a place unknown to this servant, does Your Majesty have a good life?"
  • Seeing the sincere and affectionate eyes of the chief servant towards the emperor, Wang Zhenyi's heart softened. He nodded, "Well, at least no one is poisoning or mistreating him."
  • He wasn't lying.
  • What kind of poison or mistreatment could be done to a soul that was already somewhere unknown?
  • "Thank goodness. Thank goodness," murmured the chief servant. She smiled while trying to wipe away her streaming tears.
  • Wang Zhenyi was pleased; at least he had encountered someone who cared deeply for the ill-fated emperor who died young.
  • "Alright, take your time. I'll go out for a stroll. When I return, you can update me on your emperor's situation. I don't want to suddenly die without being aware of anything," said Wang Zhenyi, rising from his seat and heading towards the door.
  • The servant nodded before bowing, "This humble servant understands. Thank you, Your Majesty."
  • "Oh, what's your name?" Wang Zhenyi turned just before leaving his room.
  • "Li Li, this humble servant's name is Li Li."
  • "Alright, then I'll call you Aunt Li from now on." Wang Zhenyi uttered before leaving without waiting for Aunt Li's response.
  • *
  • He strolled through the palace corridors, trailed by several attendants, servants, and palace guards.
  • Unconsciously, Wang Zhenyi let out a small laugh. Wandering through the palace with this entourage felt grand and awkward to him.
  • Well, behind him, there were only ten or so people. Not too many. Let's just consider it like playing around with friends in the past.
  • As he descended into the palace courtyard, he glanced back. The sight of the grand and magnificent palace immediately caught his eyes.
  • It was no less captivating and attractive than the modern buildings in his previous life.
  • Alright, alright, most of the magnificent and beautiful modern buildings have been destroyed by war. What remains are monotonous structures made of steel and the like.
  • Wang Zhenyi walked casually.
  • The feeling of being feared and having power was truly amazing. He was starting to feel that being an emperor was indeed a blessing.
  • His steps suddenly halted after he walked far enough to reach the central part of the garden, where there was a pond with a gazebo. Wang Zhenyi stared for a long time at the pond.
  • His behavior made the followers behind him break into a cold sweat.
  • "What's wrong?" Wang Zhenyi asked, confused, seeing everyone's faces tense.
  • Wasn't the sight of the pond almost frozen due to snow quite nice?
  • His nearly two-year confinement in the breeding facility, seeing only monotonous walls or restoration tubes and pregnant humans, made anything seem good and worthy of prolonged enjoyment.
  • "Forgive this humble servant, but does Your Majesty want to move and see another part of the garden?" dared to ask a servant over thirty years old.
  • Wang Zhenyi turned to look at the servant. A puzzled smile adorned his open lips as he asked, "Why? Does this pond hold some ill omen, or..."
  • He stopped mid-sentence when he remembered something. Then, he slowly chuckled, full of jest, "Is this the pond where I fell and ended up in a coma?"
  • Upon hearing the question, everyone immediately knelt. With a trembling voice, the servant explained, "Forgive this sinful servant, Your Majesty! I neglected to remind Your Majesty to avoid this ominous place! Forgive our lives, Your Majesty!"
  • The pleas echoed among the servants and attendants. The palace guards simply lowered their heads. Even if they feared losing their lives, they wouldn't beg for mercy.
  • Wang Zhenyi just shook his head and turned away. He walked towards the bridge connecting to the gazebo in the middle of the pond.
  • "Then, why is this place considered bad? Are you planning to fill it up?" Wang Zhenyi chuckled.
  • The pond was at least twenty square meters in size. A flat wooden bridge connected it to the gazebo in the middle. Without modern equipment, filling it up would be quite tiresome.
  • "As long as Your Majesty commands it," the servant replied respectfully.
  • Hearing this, Wang Zhenyi burst into laughter. He shouldn't underestimate the power of an emperor.
  • It could be said that the emperor's desires were more absolute than a president's.
  • "No need. I'm sure this pond will be very beautiful in the spring." Wang Zhenyi waved his hand and strolled casually to the gazebo.
  • He genuinely believed the pond would look beautiful with the traces of withered and frozen lotus flowers.
  • "How long will you continue to kneel?" Wang Zhenyi muttered without looking back.
  • As if granted pardon, the servant and the others in the entourage immediately stood up. However, they still slightly bowed their backs as a sign of respect.
  • "What do I usually do at this hour?" Wang Zhenyi asked as he climbed the gazebo stairs.
  • Upon hearing the question, the eunuch quickly closed the distance with Wang Zhenyi. "Your Majesty, at this hour, you usually attend imperial court sessions."
