Chapter 10 Netflix And Chill (Two)

  • Apparently even walking up the stairs took a lot of work.
  • Lia winced as Fernando pressed the cotton wool on her bruised knee. She could die of embarrassment in that moment and no one would blame her.
  • Who couldn't walk up a couple of steps without tripping and falling on their faces? Since when did that become a chore?
  • Liam was probably having a good laugh at her expense after all he had offered to help her up but she had turned him down stubbornly.
  • "It's not so bad. It doesn't hurt so much, right?" Fernando asked and Lia could see he was trying very hard to hold his laughter.
  • "It's okay." She sighed, her shoulders sagged. "You can laugh at me because I'm so stupid. I mean who falls on the stairs?"
  • Fernando shook his head as his face turned serious. "A lot of people do, babe it's called an accident."
  • "I'm not.."
  • Fernando shook his head cutting her off. "Don't do that. You tripped and you bruised your knee. Who cares if others don't? I'm just angry that you got hurt not because you were clumsy."
  • An insult and a praise in one breath, wow, this man was a pro. Lia nodded and blinked back tears feeling emotional all of a sudden.
  • "Shit. Hey, I didn't mean it like that." He sighed as he cupped her face in his hands. "I'm sorry Lia, I just meant I don't care about the reason for your faults because I'm more concerned about the fall." He cursed under his breath and Lia laughed, hugging him.
  • "It's okay. I believe you. Now, where is the movie?" She asked detaching herself from him but he pulled her back making her blush.
  • "Let's stay this way for a while, I like it." He buried his nose in her hair and took a long whiff of it's smell.
  • Lia couldn't move even if she wanted to, this moment was too perfect to ruin. Who knew what could happen the next minute?
  • He pulled away after a while and she sighed missing his warmth already. She rose up to her feet and released a loud cry... as she fell back on the couch as her leg gave way.
  • She had forgotten the stupid accident and the stupid bruise. So much for enjoying the night. She was ruining another perfectly planned date.
  • "Hey, look at me." He turned her face to meet his and Lia looked into his eyes shivering at the intensity in them. "This night is perfect; you are perfect so don't think otherwise. I love this moment with you and I hope to have many more."
  • Lia sniffed and hugged him again, holding his neck tight as if he would disappear if she didn't. Fernando chuckled but didn't pull away. "Carry me, please."
  • The last thing she wanted was more accidents to happen. One accident was enough to last them for a while. If he carried her to the den, she could get there without breaking her neck or losing a toe.
  • Fernando picked her up as though she weighed nothing and smiled down at her. "Let's go and watch some Netflix, baby."
  • 'Netflix and chill' Lia corrected in her head with a smile. Perhaps the night wasn't ruined after all.
  • "Sit over here." He said placing her on a couch, then walked away.
  • "Where are you going?" She asked getting comfortable and he was suddenly in front of her again holding the remote out to her.
  • "I figured you might want to decide which movie we should watch. I don't really have a particular preference. I watch cartoons too." He said with a shrug like it was no big deal. Lia made a mental note to fish for more information later and turned to the tv putting it on with a click of a button.
  • "What do we have here?" She wondered out loud as she scrolled through his Netflix. "No! What are you twelve?"
  • Fernando snatched the remote from her hands.
  • "What? They are great choices. Look there is frozen, the one that has Olaf, Anna, Sven and Elsa in it. Oh look, Ben 10." He crooned on and Lia gasped. *Who was this man and where was the big bad wolf from before?*
  • She snatched the remote back from him, with a shake of her head, gasping when she got to the end. "What is this? How come you don't have any grown up movies?"
  • Fernando shrugged his shoulders, his lip in a pout and Lia's eyes went there for a minute before she looked back up at his smirking face. He had caught her staring at his mouth. Lia's face reddened and she looked away from him and back at the television trying to access the situation.
  • For some reason that only Fernando knew, obviously, he only had children's films and cartoons on his Netflix. Was he some kind of child on the inside?
  • "I have a niece and a nephew who used to come over a lot. They are the reason I don't have much adult films."
  • Lia scoffed at the word 'much' and dropped the remote. He barely had any safe for Wednesday and Shanty town. Perhaps that was because they were the most current films on Netflix at the moment or else, she didn't think he would.
  • "You can just search for something and add it to my available movies." He spoke rising to his feet. "I'll get us snacks."
  • "Unbelievable." Lia exclaimed as she typed in the keywords for some movies she knew. Adding a couple of them she smiled satisfied with her work. No way was she going to allow his Netflix be this boring. Niece and Nephew or not, he was a full-grown man for goodness's sake.
  • He came back and dropped a couple of items on the table before falling on the couch. Lia clicked on a movie and dropped the remote in her lap turning to look at what he brought.
  • 'At least his taste in snacks had nothing to do with children.' Lia noted as she picked up a bottle of coke.
  • "What movie is this?"
  • "Friends." Lia shrugged and explained to him what the movie was about. It was a series movie but he didn't know that yet. The good thing about it was he could watch it until the end of the seasons that were available. She was currently on Season 5 but because of him, she was back to Season 1.
  • "You have watched this before, haven't you?"
  • Lia didn't respond as she picked up an Oreo. Friends was one movie you could see over and over again because it never got old.
  • "Why don't we watch Wednesday?" He offered and she looked at him.
  • Time to play the baby card. It worked on Jane everytime."You said I could pick the movie."
  • Fernando closed his eyes and Lia grinned, the grin shifted when his eyes fell open again. "I did, didn't I? Come on." He motioned for her to come to his side and she obliged.
  • Who wouldn't want to cuddle while watching a movie? That was basically the whole point of Netflix and chill anyway.
  • "Well this is funny." Fernando chuckled at something that Monica did and Lia smiled. He was having a good time, she was too, meaning the night wasn't ruined after all.
  • She rested her head against his chest and sighed in contentment. She could totally get used to this.
  • ****
  • Jane was sitting on the long chair when Lia walked into the house later that night.
  • Fernando had begged her to stay the night but she refused saying Jane would be all alone. The truth was, she wasn't quite ready to be alone in the same space with him just yet.
  • Their movie session was different. The movie had been a big distraction but with a sleepover, there was only a bed and night-wears, which on her part was just a shirt and some panties. She didn't know how he dressed for bed but she could bet it involved his birthday suit.
  • Going red thanks to the direction of her thoughts, Lia coughed and sat on the small stool close to the door. The door was still unlocked which was good, just in case Jane was totally pissed and wanted to hurl things at her. It helped her escape mission better. "Hey, you're up."
  • Jane didn't reply and immediately Lia knew something was wrong. Throwing caution to the wind, Lia crossed the room and went to her friend wrapping her arms around her shoulder.
  • Jane sniffed but remained silent making Lia's suspicion grow. "Jane? What's going on?"
  • A sigh and a sniff were the only responses she got.
  • Lia shook head and closed her eyes. 'Nothing is wrong' she chanted in her head. 'Jane is just being a drama queen.'
  • "George wants a break from us." Jane announced and the room fell silent. Lia blinked and pinched herself yelping at the pain.
  • She frowned at her friend's words and snorted. "What does a break from you mean for him?"
  • "He didn't say but Rex told me George wants nothing to do with me." Tears were rolling down Jane's cheeks now. Lia sighed and wrapped her arms around her pulling her into her chest.
  • Jane's body shook as she cried on Lia's body and she wished there was something she could do for her. "Are you sure I can't talk to George, yunno make him reconsider?"
  • Jane lifted her head and Lia's heart broke at the sad look in her friend's eyes. In comparison to her friend from this afternoon, Jane looked downcast and defeated.
  • She really loved George. Why was he doing this?
  • "He has been screening my calls." She wiped her face with her hands. "I called and it rang a few times but by the time I tried again, his line was switched off." Jane choked back sobs as she fell on Lia's chest.
  • Lia sighed and patted her back not sure what she was supposed to say or do in that moment. Jane was the one person who had always been by her side. All through high school and even college where she met George, Jane had been her number one fan.
  • This was the time for her to do something for Jane too, but what?
  • This was definable not the time to fill Jane in on her progress with Fernando. It would be cruel and mean of her. It would be like she was rubbing her own happiness in Jane's face.
  • "So " Jane started sitting up. She wiped her eyes and brushed the tears off her cheek with her fingers. "How was your date with Fernando?"
  • Lia raised her eyebrows in question. 'how did you know I was on a date with Fernando?" She had left the house without saying a word to Jane partly because she was asleep when she left.
  • She didn't leave a note too because Jane would tease her about it. She planned to return home and fill her in but then George happened. Lia shook her head and stared at Jane. "We are not talking about me right now."
  • Jane shook her head to and held Lia's hands. "I don't want to talk about George right now, it hurts too much."
  • "But Jane.." Lia protested but Jane shook her head again with a smile.
  • "Do this for me, please? I just want to forget for a few hours." She sighed and Lia sighed too hugging her.
  • "Okay. What do you want to know?"
  • Jane pretended to think for a bit. "First of all, why did you leave without waking me up? Were you sneaking out? "
  • Lia rolled her eyes and laughed. "I didn't want you teasing me about it. I was nervous enough already, I didn't want you teasing me."
  • Jane winked. "It's my job to tease you about your date, Lia. If I don't do it who will? Anyway tell me everything. Where did you go? What did you do? What did you eat?"
  • "No." Lia shook her head earning a frown from Jane. "First tell me how you knew about the date."
  • "Why does that even matter?" Jane quiered, her voice raising and lia shrugged not caring.
  • Jane huffed got up from the chair. "Fine, be that way. I'll just go in and cry." She said and walked off.
  • "Oh my God, don't be such a baby Jane, come on!" Lia yelled running after her. She was fighting so hard to hold in her laughter. It was so typical of Jane to turn the tables and play the pity card.
