Chapter 7 Star and Moon Thing

  • "What? The election of the moon and campus stars? But it's been three months since the first semester started and we're busy with quizzes," Ken said in disbelief.
  • Danai shifted his plate to the side. There was still a bit of salad and fried chicken left. Discussing about Campus Moon and Star made his appetite decrease.
  • "Usually the selection of campus moon and star begins at the beginning of the semester, after the university orientation for new students is completed, but there are some suggestions that some participants are selected only based on their physical shape and face, but their brain content and behavior are not measurable. So, they decided to make this event is in the middle of the semester," explained Danai at length.
  • "When you were sick, the dean distributed a questionnaire to the new students, some of the seniors from each class and made a sudden poll on the spot to determine which men and women are worthy of representing the medical college. Each of their criteria nominates three people," continued Foy with a big smile. "For the first time in my life, I'm grateful to be short."
  • "Three people? Don't tell me that...."
  • "Yes! Danai, you and me," snapped Foy quickly. "You were dropped because of your reputation as a Casanova."
  • "Damn!" growled Ken annoyed. "I don't want to be elected, but the reason I wasn't chosen is really unpleasant to hear."
  • Danai and Foy burst out laughing when they saw Ken grumbling.
  • "So, in the end, you will be the moon of medical?" said Ken, pointing to Danai.
  • "Who are the candidates for the campus moon of engineering?" Ken asked carefully.
  • "It must have been the trio of wolves," said Foy quickly. "Max, Pran, or Leon."
  • "I think it's Max. He stands out the most out of the three of them," said Danai. "Hm. I'm really freaking out right now, scheduling training and studying," Danai complained.
  • "We'll help you, Dan," said Foy generously.
  • "Ken, you're really well, right?" asked Danai, watching Ken's face closely.
  • "Max is really a good friend. He didn't refuse at all when I asked him to take care of you," Foy said happily.
  • Ken's face reddened, remembering what had happened during the two days he was sick.
  • -FLASH BACK-
  • "Ken, did I say something wrong?" Max asked softly, kneeling before Ken between his legs, when Ken suddenly burst into tears. He grabbed Ken's hand and held it tightly.
  • Ken looked at Max with his wet eyes. "No. No. I just suddenly remembered my house," Ken said. "It's been a long time no one cooked for me."
  • Max was stunned for a moment, then smiled broadly. "Geez, so you're sick because you missed your home?"
  • Ken didn't know what to say, because even though that wasn't the reason, he couldn't give Max the right answer. He just wiped his tears.
  • After that, Max really treats Ken as if he were a very valuable patient. That night Ken even slept without dreaming at all, very soundly and comfortably, in Max's arms, sunk in the warmth of his firm chest. Max's regular heartbeat is music that lulls Ken.
  • In the morning, Max makes porridge before he leaves for campus and in the afternoon sends food delivery because he himself can't leave campus because he has to take ESO.
  • In the afternoon Max stopped by again to bring dinner and check on Ken's condition. He is very relieved that Ken is getting better and Ken is very embarrassed when Max apologizes for not being able to be with Max that night. The seniors called him again to discuss something.
  • "Let me know about your condition tomorrow morning," Max said before leaving. "I'll take you to the doctor if you're not feeling better."
  • "I have to go to campus tomorrow. There's one unfinished quiz," Ken said quickly. "But I feel good now."
  • Max stopped in the doorway and turned around again. He lowered his body slightly to level his eyes with Ken's.
  • "Tell me. Okay?" he said with a smile.
  • "O-okay," Ken replied nervously.
  • The masculine scent of cinnamon and ocean breeze, Max's face so close, and Max's warm breath against his lips, made Ken's knees wobble.
  • Oh my God, what is this? Max is a man and he is very masculine. Ken shouldn't feel this way.
  • That night Ken's dream is only about Max and in the morning, he wakes up with his pants wet and sticky.
  • -FLASHBACK END-
  • "Ken! Hey, Ken!" called Danai annoyed. "What are you thinking? You're not listening to me at all?"
  • "Oh, what did you say?" Ken asked, snapping out of his daydream.
  • "Danai said we should accompany him to practice and help him take notes," said Foy in an annoyed tone. He leaned over to Ken and whispered. "I regret offering to help."
  • "I hear you, Foy," Danai said, glancing at his two best friends.
  • "You offered to help, not me," Ken said with a smirk. "I'd rather hang out in the pub than wait for Danai to practice dancing and singing or waddling down the catwalk."
  • "No, you can not do that!" said Danai quickly. "You said yourself that the reason you weren't selected as a candidate sounds unpleasant."
  • "Hm? What does that have to do with me having to wait for you to train for the show?" Ken asked, raising an eyebrow.
  • "You can't go alone to pub at least until the campus moon and star event is over. At least, it will dampen your casanova spirit running rampant while I can't keep an eye on you," said Danai firmly. "You two are forbidden to go to the pub without me, or I will remove your names from all group assignments."
  • "Oi, Foy, how many assignments do our group have with Danai?" Ken asked annoyed.
  • "I'm three, you're four, and all are major lecture task," Foy replied languidly.
  • "Damn! You're annoying, Dan!" cursed Ken while stomping.
  • "I know," Danai replied with a laugh. "Come on, this is going to be fun, especially for you, Ken."
  • "Huh? Why?"
  • "The most beautiful and sexiest girls will dance, sing and walk the catwalks. More than that, you will see Max."
  • "Huh? Why would I be interested in seeing Max? Is he going to dress up as a girl?"
  • "No you idiot! You probably thought I'd be so clumsy and ackward on stage, right? Well, imagine if it's Max, with his tall and stocky build, he'll probably be a lot more clumsy than me and you can put together a joke to tease him later."
  • "Speak of the devil, that's him," said Foy, pointing to the parking lot in front of the cafeteria. "Wooaahh ... look at the motorbike! It's so beautiful!"
  • Ken turned and suddenly wanted to sink into the floor beneath his feet. His heart was beating very fast and his face felt hot.
  • Max by standing still is already charming. Now, he was standing beside a ducati and smoothing his hair with his fingers, it was a sight created by heaven.
  • The beautiful sight was also apparently noticed by others and many girls hissed in awe and suddenly smoothed out their make-up or hair. Even men chuckle in admiration or envy.
  • "Sh*t!" said Danai annoyed. "He will be my toughest rival."
  • Max walked into the cafeteria with the amazed gazes of the crowd. He walked straight to where Ken and his two friends were sitting, smiling broadly.
  • "Ken, are you feeling better?" Max asked as he arrived. "Hi, Dan, Foy."
  • "You're a great nurse, Max," Foy said. He pointed at Ken with a smirked. "Ken was even planning on running away to the pub instead of accompanying Danai to rehearsal for the campus moon."
  • Max sat down next to Ken and unexpectedly he put a hand on Ken's forehead. "You've recovered. I was thinking about you. You didn't call me this morning," Max said seriously.
  • Ken's face reddened. "Sorry, I forgot," Ken answered quietly.
  • "Dan, you asked Ken to accompany you to practice for the campus moon?" asked Danai, staring at Ken without blinking.
  • "Yeah. Ken and Foy can't go to the pub without me, so I'll have them accompany me during practice." Max smirked.
  • "That's good. I'm happy because at least there are people I know at the training ground. I hate my seniors. They didn't even allow Leon and Pran to accompany me to practice, but demanded that I win."
  • Danai smiled broadly. "I already knew you would be the candidate for engineering."
  • "Ken, you're coming to the training ground, right?" Max said, looking at Ken expectantly. "My friends are busy because of ESO and I feel awkward being alone."
  • Ken smiled gently and touched Max's hand. "Sure. I'll accompany you and bring you a drink."
  • Danai snorted in annoyance. "Ken, you should have done that for me. You're a medical student, why are you supporting an engineering kid instead? And you said before that you won't be there."
  • "You have Foy. Max has no one. Don't be greedy, Dan."
  • Max laughed seeing Danai's frowning face, so did Foy. Ken smiled gently.
  • "Have you had lunch, Max?"
  • "Not yet. I rushed here to check on you."
  • "I'll buy ribs and fries for you. Come on, Mister Moon."
  • Max smiled widely.
