• Nicholas’s POV
• I sat there on the edge of the bed, my heart pounding as I watched Hazel’s face. She looked so small and vulnerable wrapped in nothing but a towel, her hair still damp from the shower. The new mark on her neck stood out against her skin like a claim I had proudly put there. But right now, worry twisted in my gut.
• “What is it?” I asked gently, sliding off the bed and kneeling in front of her. I placed my hands on her lap, feeling the warmth of her thighs through the towel. My thumbs stroked soothing circles, trying to calm whatever storm was brewing inside her. “Talk to me, my love. Tell me.”
