Chapter 2 Pregnant

  • "It can't be," Daniella muttered as she paced around the room. "This can't be happening, no!"
  • At present, she is at her best friend's house, Mia.
  • "No, no, no, no!" Daniella screamed, "This is going to ruin my life!"
  • "Calm down girl, this isn't worth all this stress you are putting on," Mia reassured, equally standing to her feet.
  • "It isn't?" Daniella raged, "you know I blame you a little bit. If you hadn't gone to the 'bathroom' for so long with your boyfriend maybe I wouldn't be in this mess now."
  • "Hey, it isn't my fault okay? I told you not to touch any drink but you insisted on getting wasted."
  • "That's cause I was hurting, and I needed an outlet."
  • "Well, you got your outlet so don't blame me for it, you wanted to be an adult after all, so accept this like an adult." Mia moved her shoulders to show her nonchalance.
  • "How can you say that to me, Mia?" Daniella asked in disbelief.
  • "Stop being a baby about this Daniella, what has happened has happened!"
  • "Mia, I'm pregnant, I'm having a baby for a guy, I can't even remember his name, not to mention his face! Mia, I'm freaking out!" She cried, her eyes glistening with tears. "What am I going to do? Victor… Victor just agreed to get back with me for the engagement but now I'm pregnant with another guy's child Mia."
  • Mia sighed, coming to the couch where Daniella was seated, and bringing her best friend into her arms.
  • "Hey, baby, don't cry it's all going to be okay, I'm here aren't I?" She reassured me, "You still have me, your best friend, and also your third best friend who is now my boyfriend. Although I have no idea where that idiot is."
  • Daniella laughed at the mention of Mia's boyfriend.
  • His name was Caden. The three of them have been friends since high school.
  • They had gone through a lot, but they still pulled it through.
  • Successfully making her laugh, Mia continued to offer her best friend comfort. "Tell me what's bothering you, hmm. I know you are a strong person so deep down, what's making you panic?"
  • Feeling comfort, "I am anxious." Daniella blurted out. "I… I don't know what to do, I feel like I've betrayed him."
  • "What?!"
  • Mia almost screamed her head off. She subconsciously moved away from Daniella, staring at her face like the word 'stupid' was written on it.
  • "Don't look at me like that! I know this was going to be your reaction that's why I didn't want to talk!"
  • "No, no." Mia shook her head in disbelief, dismissing her previous expression. "I only wanted to see if you hit your head somewhere before you came to my house."
  • "Mia!" Daniella glared at her. "Do you want me to hit you?!"
  • "You dare?!" Mia retorted fiercely. "You hit your head and I'm sure of it! That fucking bastard cheated on you repeatedly, and when you caught him in bed, he had the galls to chase you out of your OWN house, telling you, that he cheated because you refused to sleep with him!"
  • Anxious, Daniella subconsciously defended, "That's not it!"
  • "Oh, you shut up!" Mia shut her up with a yell, standing to her feet, her hands on her hip like an old mother disciplining her daughter. "After all the shit he did you still defend him and go as far as even plotting to tie him together with you! To date, I still wonder where you kept your brain. If it's in the refrigerator, you better bring it out, it's time to cook it in that empty pot of a head you call a skull!"
  • "It's not what you think Mia!" Equally standing to her feet with a face clouded in shame and grievance, "he saved me and you know it!"
  • Seven years ago, Daniella developed a kidney problem and needed a kidney donor, that's where Victor came in.
  • Her parents were dead, and she was the only daughter and child of her successful parents.
  • She skimmed in money and bathed in the money left by her parents. It was unfortunate her parents died on a business trip to Australia when she was eighteen. If they were still alive, Mia was sure, Victor would have no chance of ever meeting Daniella.
  • Victor had donated one of his kidneys to her because they matched. It wasn't like Mia or Caden didn't volunteer, trust me, they did, but they didn't match.
  • Just that act from Victor won Daniella's sympathy and compassion.
  • "Oh please," Mia snorted, "he saved you, then you have to devote your entire life to him to become his cow and horse? And when he saved you, didn't you pay him handsomely?"
  • "It's not like that!" Daniella argued, "It's not like that you say."
  • "Then how is it?" Mia countered, "We save lives to make them live, to make them happy, not to make them wish they would die! Daniella if how you treat Victor is how everyone out there, who has ever received the opportunity to be saved by someone other than their family, then, I don't know what to say."
  • "I…" choking on tears, Daniel stammered. "Am I pathetic?"
  • "No honey," bringing her tone lighter, "I just want you to see where you are wrong. This pregnancy is God's way of telling you that a bastard is not meant for you and he's been telling you for a very long time but you were just so goddamned stubborn!"
  • "Mia!" Daniella weakly refuted, looking at her friend who stood with a red face.
  • "No Ella, don't look at me like that and don't refute me." Mia snorted, "Don't you remember what that bastard did that day?"
  • Thinking of that day made her face wrinkle.
  • It was a very hot Sunday in July but Daniella didn't mind. She ran down the porch, her hair sticking to her face and neck.
  • Her face was red, but she didn't care, even a heatstroke wasn't going to stop her. She was furious!
  • This morning, when she was at work, Daniella received a call from the bank telling her that her pain was overdue.
  • What the f*ck?
  • She had never considered taking a loan in all her twenty-five years of life. Why? Because she didn't need it!
  • Daniella was fuming, she crossed over a kid's toy lying on the floor. She knew someone who could have access to her account like that and it was her boyfriend, Victor.
  • "Victor!" She yelled, opening the door to their apartment. She owned it but who cares?
  • When you are in a relationship nothing belongs to you alone.
  • "Victor!" Daniella screamed, going up the stairs, and stumbling on a shoe.
  • Daniella held onto the handrail, a yelp leaving her lips, as a brown shoe rolled down the stairs and as it stopped, she saw something that made her heart chill.
  • Beside the brown shoe, there was another pair of shoes, a lady's shoe in particular.
  • A bright red heel lay on the carpet, the black carpet rug, highlighting the heel, making it stand out. How she had missed this detail she couldn't tell.
  • "Victor!" She exclaimed, running up the stairs and along the way, pieces of discarded clothes lay on the floor.
  • "Please, please, please." She murmured, begging silently as she came close to the bedroom door.
  • Daniella thrust the door open, driving aside her hesitations. Inside, a scene that shattered her every being was presented in front of her.
  • On the bed, her boyfriend, and soon-to-be fiance were currently groaning, having s*x with a lady she recognized as their neighbor.
  • The door opened, she had frozen and she was destroyed at the scene but the culprits in particular didn't give a damn they had a spectator.
  • Instead, they both had a smirk and moaned louder than before, continuing with vigor.
  • Daniella's eyes stung, "how could you do this to me, Victor?" She walked to the bed, pulling him off the woman.
  • Victor frowned, pushing her off him, his voice laced with spite. "Don't touch me you b*tch, can't you see I am in the middle of something?"
  • "Ugh!" She winced, her back hitting the wall and those unshed tears fell off her eyes. "Victor." Her voice was short.
  • "Get out!" He chased, with anger in his face.
  • Victor grabbed her by the arm, "Don't you dare cry on me or try to act naive. This is all your fault!" He blamed, roughly shoving her out of the room.
  • Ignoring the pain in her arm, she fired, "How is this my fault?!"
  • "Well if you had let me have s*x with you, none of this would be happening!"
  • She stared at him like he was nuts!
  • "Don't you try to blame me for your actions Victor!" She yanked her arm out of his. "I won't let you shirk this!"
  • "Say whatever you want, just get out," Victor said, using his body to block her way back to the room.
  • She laughed, looking at him. "You are chasing me out of my apartment for a f*ck? Victor, I am your girlfriend, your fiancee."
  • "Get out or you won't like what will happen next," Victor warned, his eyes narrowing dangerously.
  • With tears coming down her eyes, she stared at the man in front of her, running her hand through her hair, and biting her lips.
  • "I was really stupid falling in love with you." She looked at him, mocking her stupidity. "If that's what you want then fine! I am leaving but I came here to tell you that your loan is overdue, see to it that it's cleared. I don't want unnecessary calls."
  • She turned to leave not wishing to spare a glance at the naked man.
  • "Clear the loan, you are my fiancee after all," Victor said shamelessly.
  • "No!" She blocked, without turning.
  • "Then forget about the engagement, since you couldn't clear a simple loan of one hundred dollars!" He threatened.
  • "Then fine!" Daniella agreed but his next words stunned her.
  • "You are an ingrate, you know that right? Without me, you wouldn't be standing right here!" Victor paused, "I would like to see what your investors think when I go out telling them how much of an ingrate you are."
  • That was it, that was how she came up with a stupid plan but thinking of it now, it seemed she was blind.
  • "I am keeping this baby." Daniella stared at her friend, with determination in her eyes.
  • "What?!" An astonished voice made them jolt.
  • Looking at the face they least expected to see, they said at the same time, "Victor?!"
