• "This room has no windows," Riven said, dragging the last chest through the doorway himself rather than trusting a guard with it. "Two exits, both warded, both mine to open. You're safer here than anywhere else in the fortress."
• "You keep saying safer like it's a place instead of a feeling."
• "It's both, tonight." He crossed to me, cupping my jaw, and the scent-marking that followed had lost every trace of the humiliation it once carried. I leaned into it now, into him, without the old flinch. "I need you drenched in this before the moon rises.
