Chapter 5 DANCING TOGETHER

  • Selena Ryder' Point of View:
  • "What the hell?" I mumbled.
  • "He's your brother?" Callista asked incredulously.
  • We glanced at each other in shock when Bryan confirmed that they were indeed brothers. Arthur Cony and Bryan Cony are brothers. It actually made sense now. No wonder he could get us into Club Electra. He owned the damn club. Now is name seem a whole lot familiar, he not only owns this club but many others and restaurants around the world. I was bought out of my reverie to hear Bryan speaking.
  • "Arthur this is my new friend Selena and her best friend Callista, ladies this is my brother Arthur."
  • "We've met." Arthur says staring at me.
  • "Oh, you have?" Bryan asks curiously.
  • "Y-yeah." I muttered shyly, "I interviewed at his office to be his assistant."
  • "She's the hot girl you were telling me about." he blurted out enthusiastically.
  • I bit back a laugh as a blush formed on Arthur's face. I held my head down to avoid the apologetic look that Bryan had on his face. Callista on the other hand was snickering away and I rolled my eyes at her. I looked over at Arthur to find him staring at me. I didn't even think that it was possible for my skin to get as red as it now was.
  • I was brought out of my reverie when Callista spoke, "So, Bryan would you like to dance?"
  • A smirk made its way unto his face as he stared at Callista, "I'd love to.''
  • I watched as he took her hand and led her to the dance floor. I must say for a billionaire he was a very cool and charming guy. Its actually quite refreshing to see, not that I've met many billionaires anyway. I smiled at Callista not trying to show her that I was upset she left me alone with my hot boss. I turned to face Arthur; I can't believe how absolutely nervous I am.
  • "So..." I trailed off.
  • "So, Miss Ryder," He finally spoke, "Its quite surprising seeing you here."
  • I couldn't help the blush that formed on my face. I felt totally out of place.
  • "Yeah well I've never been a fan of clubs, I was just so excited that I accepted Bryan's offer."
  • He turned to face me, "How'd you meet my dear brother anyway?"
  • I took a sip of the drink Bryan got me, "We met at the store. I had no idea who he was at the time not to mention that he was your brother."
  • I watched him as a thoughtful look appeared on his face. I wasn't lying when I said that I didn't know who Bryan was because I really didn't. I was more than surprised when I found out that they were related. I really am clueless sometimes but how was I supposed to make that connection. By the time I had finished spacing out I had finished my drink and that's when I noticed that Arthur was staring at me. I stared back at him getting a confidence boost from the alcohol.
  • "Would you like to dance?"
  • I turned to scan the area behind me. He couldn't be asking me, could he?
  • I pointed to myself, "Are you talking to me?"
  • He chuckled softly to me bewildered expression, "Who else would I be speaking to?"
  • "B-but you're my b-boss."
  • He stood up slowly a smirk on his handsome face, "Right in this moment you're not my assistant and I'm not your boss."
  • Staring at his outstretched hand I felt an enticing calmness take over me and, in that moment, I felt that we were just two people who wanted to dance together. I took his hand and let him lead me to the dance floor. Just as we made it to the center of the floor the DJ switched to a slow song. I rolled my eyes at the timing of it, it was so cliché.
  • Arthur pulled me into his arms and slid his hands down to my waist, pulling me closer. I shyly ran my hands up his chest the soft groan resnated from him had be smirking in seconds. My hands wrapped around his neck and we began to sway to the beat of the music. I absolutely loved to dance, and I was very good at it.
  • "You're a fairly good dancer."
  • "I try." I smiled at him as he twirled me around and pulled me back into his arms.
  • "Have you been in the area long?" He asked me curiously.
  • "Callista and I moved here a few months ago, I needed a change of scenery and Callista is just so awesome that she agreed to come with me."
  • "And how do you like New York so far? Is it what you thought it would be?"
  • "Its rather interesting that I can tell you, my mother always wanted me to come here for some reason, but she's never told me why."
  • "Well I'm sure she's happy that you're here now, and working for one of the most eligible bachelors in New York, no less."
  • I pulled away from him at his words, for some reason him saying that didn't sit right with me. It was as if he was accusing me of purposefully seeking him out. It was all coincidental me meeting him here, but I guess he didn't think so.
  • "I'm not a gold digger Mr. Cony." I snapped at him, "And quite frankly with that arrogant attitude of yours I don't know what women see in you."
  • I stomped off the dance floor leaving a very shocked Mr. Cony staring at me. I headed straight for the bar and ordered three shots of tequila. I expected to wait a little since there were persons here before me, but I guess he saw me enter with Bryan because just as soon as I had placed my order, I was downing the shots he gave me.
  • I raise my hand to the bartender and held up 3 fingers, quickly signaling that I wanted three more shots. He quickly made the shots and handed them to me. I quickly took one and when I was about to take the other it was ripped from my hand by non-other than Mr. Cony.
  • "I think you've had enough."
  • "N-no I haven't." I giggled at him and grabbed my drink, "Sit down have a drink."
  • "Look at you, brooding and wearing a suit." I handed one of my shots to him, "You should really loosen up."
  • He looked at me and I mean really looked at me before he said down and ordered shots of his own. He wasn't trying to be an eligible bachelor, or a multibillionaire and I wasn't trying to impress my boss. I was just Selena, and, in that moment, he was just Arthur.
