Chapter 4 She's Mine Now

  • Kieran’s POV
  • I was so furious. So angry about the whole Mordecai and the omega’s issues.
  • While I paced around my room, I looked around to find it in a messy state. Had the maid on duty forgotten their job?
  • I angrily called out to the chief maid who stated that Lyra was the maid in charge of cleaning my room today. I make sure she's among the omegas that attends to my needs, to keep her close.
  • I summoned Lyra's immediately and entered the bathroom to have a quick shower.
  • The next moment, I heard the quiet creak of my chamber door opening after a few knocks.
  • Steam came from the adjoining bath, filling the air, as I ran a towel over my damp hair, my hairy chest was bare, the towel slung low on my hips as I approached the door.
  • I turned my head still drying my hair with the second towel just as Lyra stepped inside.
  • She halted immediately her eyes fell on me and then bowed her head low. Startled, she stumbled back, nearly knocking over the bucket she dropped behind her.
  • “I’m sor…ry Alpha!” she stammered, her face instantly heating to a deep shade. She jerked her gaze downward, bowing her head so fast I thought she might snap her neck.
  • I didn’t speak. I didn’t move. I just watched her.
  • The moment I took a step forward, my wolf let out a low, guttural growl in my head.
  • “Mate. Mate.”
  • The word sent a slow, searing hotness through my veins, my grip tightening on the towel.
  • “Mark her.” My wolf snarled. “She had belonged to me ever since. She had always belonged to me.”
  • Lyra, still unaware with her head still bowed, still so naive, shifted uneasily on her feet.
  • “I… I can come back,” she blurted. “I didn’t mean to intrude, my Alpha. I can return when you’re done dressing.”
  • I ignored her. She took a step back. I took a step forward.
  • My wolf snarled in pleasure, pacing at the edge of my control.
  • I could hear her heart hammering. Her hands trembled slightly as she clutched the mopping stick in her hands.
  • “Forgive me my Alpha,” she said again, her voice barely above a whisper.
  • My footsteps didn't stop.
  • She swallowed hard as I closed the space between us, until she had no choice but to lift her gaze. The moment her eyes met mine, I saw the fear in them. I expected it.
  • My fingers reached out before I could stop myself, brushing a stray lock of her hair from her face. She flinched at the touch, but she didn’t run. She couldn’t.
  • “You think you can leave just like that?” My voice was low and dangerous.
  • She shuddered. “I’m sorry my Alpha. I was stupid to forget I was on duty to clean your room.”
  • “Of course you are,” I cut her off.
  • “You don’t belong anywhere but here.” She took a step backwards as if she was uncomfortable and didn’t understand what I said.
  • I continued, my fingers trailing lower, brushing the curve of her jaw.
  • She is tense.
  • She gasped, jerking away from my touch as if it burned.
  • “No my Alpha, I’m afraid I’ll be in great trouble if Lady Seraphina sees me anywhere near you,” she said.
  • The corner of my lips curled, simply amazed.
  • Before she could take another step back, I moved faster, caging her against the wall.
  • She let out a sharp breath, her hands pressing against my bare chest in a desperate attempt to push me away. The feel of her soft palms against my heated skin only made my wolf’s hunger worse.
  • “I should…” she started, but I tilted her chin up roughly, forcing her to meet my gaze.
  • “You should what?” I asked, my voice barely above a growl.
  • Her throat bobbed, her lips parting, but no words came.
  • I leaned in, inhaling deeply, my wolf practically howling in my head. My control slipped, ever so slightly. She smelled like everything I never knew I needed. Like everything I would never let go of.
  • She struggled, weakly pressing against my chest again, her body trembling under my hold.
  • “Don’t fight me,” I murmured against her ear.
  • She did the opposite. With more force than I expected, she shoved me. It barely moved me, but the attempt sent a jolt of dark amusement through me.
  • My hand darted out, gripping her wrist, yanking her flush against me. She gasped.
  • “You don’t understand, do you?” I murmured, my fingers brushing along the pulse at her throat. “You can’t run. You can’t hide. You were made for me.”
  • She shook her head, her eyes wild with something between fear and denial.
  • “I don’t belong to you,” she said, her voice shaking. “You can’t just…”
  • I growled. “I can and I will.”
  • She twisted in my grasp, but I was ruthless. Unwilling to let her go. I was willing and ready to claim her now.
  • Her breaths came in shallow pants as my eyes drifted to her lips. My wolf wanted to claim them, to mark her, to make her mine in every possible way.
  • “Let me go,” she tried again, but I only tightened my grip.
  • My eyes twitched from black to golden. Those were my wolf’s eyes. Then my claws and Alpha teeth grew long and in no time, they made it way deep into her skin. She shut her eyes, enduring the pain. Yes, I have marked her. She’s mine now.
  • I looked dangerous. I was possessive. And I was obsessed.
  • She was mine. She had always been mine.
  • Just then, Seraphina walked in but instantly halted the moment she saw my intimacy position with Lyra.
  • Her eyes were widely staring in shock as she took in the sight before her.
  • Lyra pinned against the wall, my bare chest pressed against her body, her lips parted as if she had been seconds from screaming.
  • Lyra’s hands curled into small, trembling fists at her sides, her breathing uneven.
  • I didn’t move. Neither did any of us move.
