  • Jade scoffed, « dogs and their loyalty, » she chuckled darkly, yanking at the rope and I choked, instinctively shooting my hands up as an attempt to pry it off.
  • That’s when I spotted a brown wolf charging straight toward my mother. I wasn’t sure where it came from but I didn’t have time to care. The wolf was about twenty feet away when it lifted its front paws off the grass and kicked off the ground with its hind legs, lunging straight for Jade. She was oblivious to the animal behind her and I widened my eyes, jumping into her just as the wolf rammed into us.
  • I hit the grass with a wince, my head bouncing off the ground and the wolf above me was knocked off within the second by a flash of white.
