- “You’ve doubled security?” Raven’s voice was sharp as she stood at the floor-to-ceiling windows of Jaxon’s penthouse, watching a pair of black SUVs idle at the curb below.
- “Tripled,” he corrected from behind her. She didn’t turn to look, but she felt his presence, the subtle pressure in the air when he was near. “Two on the roof, one in the elevator shaft, and three on the street. No one comes in or out without me knowing.”
- She spun around, eyes flashing. “That’s not security, Jaxon. That’s a prison.”
