Chapter 5 Wolves Ii
- 'Right now?' Lynn mouthed back and he nodded. He looked desperate. She looked down at her paper and frowned as she still had a lot to answer.
- "Ugh, whatever." she mumbled and started scribbling answers down. She could feel Noel's widened eyes on her as if to tell her she was doing the wrong thing but she ignored her and got up immediately to drop her paper on Mr frost's table. She ignored the surprised look he gave her.
- "You still have some time left to check over it," he said looking at his watch.
- "I'm fine. Restroom break?" Lynn asked as he gave her a suspicious look.
- "Alright. Go ahead."
- She rushed out before he could change his mind and went up to Simon.
- "What's going on?" She whispered as she got closer to him.
- "You were right, I couldn't come up with a plan, you're our last hope" Simon rushed as he got on one knee in front of her with his back facing her. "Hop on."
- She hopped on his back and he came back up, her weight didn't seem to have any impact on him.
- "I'll explain on the way," he said, and swoosh, they were out.
- Lynn could barely keep her eyes open as the immeasurably strong wind blew at her, she felt Simon come to a stop and she raised her head. It's only been a minute. She opened her eyes to see them now standing on an open field with tall trees surrounding the space, it didn't look like a place she recognized.
- "We're here." Simon said and she looked around.
- "Where?" Lynn asked and Simon looked at her as she gave him a questioning look. "You never did get to explain on the way."
- "...right" Simon looked away and Lynn heard voices. At the other end of the cleared up field were people gathered. It almost looked like a party but the look on their faces was not inviting, it seemed like a quarrel. She blinked as her eyes adjusted and she could make out some familiar faces, the bakery store man across the street, her neighbors, the Smiths. She recognized some of the others from school. Jason, Alisha, Todd, and three others from the upper grade. Even the school janitor. Some didn't even look American. "What's going on? Why are these people here?" Lynn asked and she finally sighted Adam and Aaron. She was about to move forward when Simon stopped her.
- "Everyone of them you're seeing right now are wolves."
- She paused for a minute and finally said "Excuse me?"
- She stepped back as she took another look at them. She couldn't count them but she could tell they were over five hundred, she recalled the way she had seen the ginger-haired girl turn into a wolf and her heartbeat quickened as it dawned on her, she had five hundred people who could become dogs any moment from now in front of her. The thought of that wasn't so pleasant.
- "Hey" Simon stepped in front of her as he noticed her uneven breathing. "You okay? We can go back if you feel uncomfortable."
- "No, It's okay," she replied as she took a deep breath to get herself together. He came to her for help and help is what she would give. "So, what do I do to help?"
- He breathed out and said "You wait here."
- "That's it?" She let out in disbelief "I don't have to stall someone? Or get the police? Or fight one of them?- though there is a chance I might lose that one but still...that's it?!"
- "You'll understand after this is over," Simon replied as they both watched some new people join in. The three of them also didn't look American, and for some reason, the man in front looked like he was about to stir up trouble. She saw him speak but she couldn't hear a thing, they were too far away. The breeze did raise some words to her but it still made no sense.
- Meanwhile, Simon could pick out every word they said.
- "I finally get a break from work and this is how I spend it. Can you American wolves go a day without poking your noses where it doesn't belong?"
- "And can you like freaking shut your mouth up and be quiet Gustavo?" A girl shot at him with a look of disdain.
- "I'll say what I want to and decide when not to- Abby!" he shot back as the malice picked up in the air.
- "Why are we here anyway?" Gustavo threw his hands in the air as he looked around for answers.
- "You didn't hear?"
- "Not much. I just heard someone who couldn't keep still went and stirred up trouble but I don't see why we all should be called in for that... Is it that serious?" He asked curiously as their faces went grim, then one of them finally replied.
- "Dean messed with the Prince's mate."
- Gustavo went quiet for a moment as he seemed to think something through.
- "I only know of one prince. Please tell me I have him confused with someone else?" He said hopefully but the silence that followed made his eyes widen. "You're kidding, right?... The prince has a mate?!"
- "That's what you're concerned about?" Someone else said "We all know why we're here, we also know we're not leaving here alive."
- "That's crazy. Are we just gonna let ourselves get killed?" he threw his hands.
- "Got anything else in mind? If it doesn't end with getting away from the prince in one piece count me out."
- "I don't have a golden plan like that in mind," Gustavo frowned and turned to look back at Abby and the others behind her. He knew Abby was the next alpha to take charge of Dean's pack. Since he wasn't getting out alive, he might as well do whatever he wants.
- Gustavo smirked at Abby and said "I did have a score to settle with you."
- With that, he arched down immediately as his clothes tore off and his gray wolf took over, Abby changed just in time for defense as the others behind her weren't letting her go in alone. Gustavo's people weren't also backing down, with half of them in their wolf form, they growled ferociously, their backs arched as they looked ready to attack.
- "That's enough."
- Simon stepped into their midst and Lynn looked to her side confusedly and wondering when he'd left, she had watched everything that happened but something else baffled her. They had looked ready to pounce a minute ago, but as soon as Simon got there, they stepped away and the air around them cooled off. Lynn wondered how he was able to do that. Her gaze turned back to the wolves and her heart rate picked up again, now that she stood alone, she didn't like it. She flinched and spun back as she thought she heard something move between the trees but there was nothing in sight.
- "Seeing as you're here I guess we really are toast." A man said to Simon who understood what he meant.
- "Don't worry, I'm here to help." he said and a light lit up in their hearts.
- "Did you speak to him? Is he going to forgive us?" Adam asked as he stepped forward with Aaron and their mom behind.
- "He won't listen to anything I say at this moment," Simon replied and turned to look at Lynn. "But he'll listen to her."
- They all turned towards the direction of his gaze to see the beautiful black haired human who turned in their direction and looked the most confused among them.
