Chapter 8 Jarek

  • JAREK'S POV
  • Life is a paradox of contradicting similarities!!!
  • I so badly wanted to do something to Garland First but I knew Olivia could easily link it to me.
  • I had not been so subtle with my anger the other day.
  • He was currently in Zeba for his honeymoon and should be back before Saturday.
  • Even though I couldn't do anything physically to him - for now - I could most definitely do something to his terribly inflated ego.
  • ‘He had called Olivia a b****, he had broken her vase.
  • He had held her against her will on her couch…had his bloody hands on her. Made her uncomfortable that she almost cried. She probably had cried when I left.
  • She had been visibly shaken!
  • And I wouldn't be Jarek Stark if I let him enjoy his tanning period in Zeba till I have the opportunity to end his life!’
  • News had carried it that it was a fire outbreak at one of their major sites but I know exactly what had happened.
  • The supplies that were made earlier in the day weren't what they had ordered. Someone had shut down every camera in the building. Someone else had started the fire.
  • They both left before the fire began to burn too brightly for recognition and the building was razed to the ground.
  • He would not be all smiles during the honeymoon as his dear wife would be itchy about the massive loss incurred. Their brief honeymoon would be brief-er and they would come back soon.
  • Saturday dragged on sluggishly and I could only see Olivia through the pictures my private investigator sent to me. She looked so tired on Monday that I had to send a direct message to her supervisor to ensure that her workload was reduced drastically.
  • Her supervisor would know it was a command from the CEO but would have no idea who it was. Olivia would discover that she had more free time but she wouldn't know how that came about - even the supervisor was made to seal his lips and not reveal that preferential treatment was being shown to her.
  • I tried to send a text to her but I always ended up deleting whatever I typed. It either sounded too corny or too corny.
  • The only text I had managed to send was regarding the event - the details, mode of dressing, and time.
  • I was more detailed than necessary.
  • When Saturday finally arrived, I could not wait for 5 pm to arrive. The seconds ticked slower than a sloth would and it was infuriating. I tried to do other things to keep me engaged but I kept on being more distracted.
  • I was looking at the financial reports from our various food branches and in one of the new products, a flower had been boldly drawn on the package.
  • My memory was instantly reared to life about that tattoo I had seen on her thigh.
  • I was certain that it wasn't there when she had left my house but then…
  • She must have had her bath and applied some lotion because that area glistened and the thought of running a palm soothed me… the thought of running a tongue across every edge of the flower seemed so sinfully desirable.
  • That thought had led me under the shower three times before 5 pm.
  • I texted her when I was outside her building, and twenty-three seconds later, she responded.
  • “I'm sorry but I'll need fifteen minutes more. I promise not to exceed it"
  • I typed, "You can have the whole night, Sugar, but have little mercy on me. I have been dying to see you for the past six days..”
  • I cleared it off and instead sent just one letter. “K!"
  • It was sixteen minutes later she had trotted towards my car in an olive green dress.
  • The dress had me thinking of canceling tonight's plans and doing other things that do not involve making small talk in a crowd of people.
  • It had no sleeves and showed a generous cleavage, hugged her skin from her breasts to her waist, and was made a little free from the waist downwards. It was dreamy!
  • Her straight hair was made slightly wavy and was parted at the side.
  • I bolted out of my car before I could lay hold on my reasoning.
  • Behind Olivia was her best friend, Maya, and her hands were folded across her chest. She had no smile on her face but I couldn't be bothered.
  • I walked around my car to the door of the shotgun seat and I held it open for her.
  • “I'm moved. I never knew you had this gentlemanly side to you.
  • Last I saw you, you wanted to harm a man,” Olivia teased with a warm smile, and I couldn't help but smile back.
  • ‘I also didn't know I had this side to me!’
  • “Funny!
  • Evening Little Miss!” I said.
  • "Evening, Mr Jarek and I thought we were past that. My name, as you know, is…”
  • "Yes, Olivia.
  • Let's get going" I said as she passed by me to sit. As she did, the scent of daisies wafted into my nostrils.
  • ‘Lovely! Pleasant!
  • I want to wrap my hand around the back of her neck, pull her closer, and bury my head in the crook of her neck!’
  • “Not so fast, Mr. Jafred…” Maya suddenly said.
  • I turned towards her, slightly irked that she had to break the jinx at the moment.
  • " It's Jarek,” I said calmly…a little too calmly.
  • "I do not really care...” She blurted..
  • "Maya…" Olivia called to stop her but Maya ignored her.
  • "I still have not gotten a proper understanding of who you are and your sudden introduction and interest in my friend's life. But she is the most important person to me, and if she comes back a tad sad, I'll find you and use you for decapitation purposes,” She said.
  • ‘Decapitation purposes huh?’
  • Couldn't she just say she would decapitate me? Maybe she is not as stony as she wants to be seen.’
  • “Fair!
  • She’ll be back before 11.” I said not breaking the eye contact she had fixed on me.
  • ***********************
  • “I'm sorry for my friend's behavior earlier. She is not always like that" Olivia said as I drove.
  • “It is expected. I'd probably act worse if I was in her shoes.” I said and she nodded.
  • “Uhm, just to be properly prepared. Garland and his wife will also be present, right?" She asked.
  • I could sense that she wanted to ask that question nonchalantly but the unresolved emotions in her wouldn't let that happen.
  • My fingers on the steering wheel tightened. I didn't like that his name was still falling from her tongue.
  • He doesn’t deserve it.
  • “Yes they will, but we will be together all through the night.
  • It's just for pictures for my parents to see. Whenever you feel uncomfortable, do not hesitate to tell me” I explained.
  • I heard her exhale sharply and her hands clutched her purse tighter.
  • Without making it seem like a big deal, I clasped my free hand over h
  • ers.
  • I felt her body go completely rigid but she didn't pull back or say a word.
  • ‘I’ve got you Sugar”
