• For the next few days after I bumped into Scarlett and Noah, it became difficult for me to leave my room. Every time I heard a knock on my door, my heart leapt and every small sound made me jump. When I did leave my room, my eyes darted around the place and I caught myself wringing my hands together. The only time I felt at ease was when I had Killian beside me and that was only at night.
• I kept wondering what Noah had planned, what he told Scarlett and how I would handle it if Killian found out. When nothing happened for a while, I let myself relax but I should not have.
