Chapter 2

• The day just passed swiftly, it was already five o'clock. I was too busy to know the time, if it were not Joe who reminded me about it. He's my work mate and a friend, he's a funny person. Not forgetting he's also very handsome and charismatic. All the ladies working here are always drooling over him. Always trying to get his attention.
• When he was done with his job for the day, he would pass by my office and peep in. He would spend the remaining time in my office chatting.
• He is funny and that is the main reason I don't mind him spending the rest of his time in my office. And before anyone thinks otherwise we are just friends apart from him flirting with everyone, he does not spare me as well.
• We were just chatting when My phone buzzed and there was a message from Lucy reminding me about the date and the place we were supposed to meet. I rolled my eyes at the message and sighed loudly
• "What's the matter you look pissed" Joe asked realizing my sudden mood change.
• "It's Lucy again, doing the Lucy stuff."
• "Do you want me to help you. We can act as couple you know, just so that the guy runs away." He said winking. he knew that Lucy was always after me.
• "that's actually a good idea. How come I've never thought about it" acting as if I was thinking about it intensely. "But anyway I'll just go with them today and maybe we can plan it again when she forces me again. I don't have anything to do today anyway, probably I'll just go out with them, instead of sleeping my ass off." I said laughing
• "Such a lady like language you use... Anyway Who knows if you like the guy, I suggest you should give it a go." He smirked, moving his brows up and down.
• I shook my head in disagreement rolling my eyes.
• I moved out of my chair after I had closed and put away all the files in the drawer. I walked to Joe and pulled him out of his sit.
• "Arghh not you too. I don't want you acting like Lucy. " I slapped his shoulder dramatically. "And we should get going now. Unless you want to stay here and make this cabin your bedroom, I can leave so you can sleep peacefully." I joked throwing my hands towards the office.
• He rolled his eyes " I wish I could but my home misses me every day. Can't leave it alone for long." He joked again and this time i rolled my eyes at him.
• After the conversation joe dragged me to the elevator. As the doors opened i found mrs collins tiredly looking at her diary. She was a receptionist, she worked in the spacious lobby and sat behind the counter.
• "Hello" I chirped as soon as I saw her and smiled broadly.
• "Hello to you two" she replied looking up and returning the smile. "Today was very tiring day for me, you know Mr Rodgers is back from the business trip." She said frowning.
• Joe responded with an approving nod. Mr Neil Rodgers was the new CEO of the company, he recently was given this position by his father, the former CEO Mr Martin Rodgers.
• Though it's been a few months that he's joined this company but I've never seen Mr Neil around. He's always out for business trips and if he was here he would spend his entire time in his office.
• "He is in? I thought he would not be back before weekend. Not until the day before the party that would be held to announce him as the new CEO of the Rodgers empire." I asked Raising my eyebrows.
• "Yah. The deal he was to sign is going to be signed here. He cut his trip short and just attended the charity event there." Joe answered as the elevator doors slid open.
• "Goodbye Mrs Collins see you tomorrow." Joe smiled at her as we stepped out of the elevator.
• "Goodbye" she replied, she looked really tired.
• "I've never seen Mr Rodgers, like in here." I said as the elevator doors closed and Mrs Collins disappeared behind it.
• "What? are you kidding?" Joe looked surprised at my comment
• "Yah. I'm serious I haven't seen him here."
• "I understand he's always out or locked in." He joked. " but its good that you haven't faced him, you know what everyone says about him right?"
• I nodded in response, breathing in deeply. wishing i would never meet him. what if he remembers everything that happened seven years ago... god that a long time he might have forgotten me by now. seven years is a long time people change and so does their appearance somehow. he won't remember shit, i am just over reacting. Am I?
• I've heard everyone saying he's arrogant and rude. I was happy I didn't have to face his rudeness and arrogance, I might have lost this job by now if I did. I would have angrily snapped him if he would have ever talked to me rudely. And the next thing I would be receiving is a letter of termination. God forbid.
• ....
• I bought coffee on my way to the restaurant to freshen up, or atleast make me energized for the next two hours.
• it would be great if the guy too shows no interest. I bit my lower lip nervously, Hoping my prayers to be accepted
• I slowly walked to the cafe hoping that they would have left or maybe even forget about this stupid thing... Well, she is not that bad as I am portraying her right now... but I just want to stay away from her boyfriend. He is a man whore... He would eye every girl around, like a scanner machine, scanning every details from a picture.
• I looked around to see if she had arrived. I saw her next to the window seat and proceeded to her.
• "You are late Ree." Lucy faked a sad expression
• "well at least am here. Be thankful I didn't leave you alone." I rolled my eyes and looked around "your boyfriend and the friend are not even here yet. They are late..."
• "who said we are late... we reached here before you guys did. We were waiting for you." He looked at me and winked. I scoffed and narrowed my eyes. Well speak of the devil and here he comes.
• "Hey honey." He kissed lucy on the lips And sat next to her.
• "Oh...you did wait? I didn't see you here though... In case you left your souls to wait for us then maybe... Because I don't have supernatural powers you see." I faked a smile at him.
• "ree, don't get started here." Lucy tried to defend his boyfriend. And here we have a protective girlfriend, if only we could say the same about the boyfriend too.
• "yah right am the bad guy now." I breathed out lowly so no one could hear.
• "honey, maybe she acts like this coz she envies you... you know, coz you are my girlfriend."
• Holy fuck, he just didn't brag about himself. And Lucy being naive she is, she would still think he is joking.
• "What makes you think that I am jealous and that too for you? You are highly mistaken. you think too high about yourself."
• "okay enough guys... I'll go place an order until then you guys keep on with your conversation. what do you guys want." She moved out of her seat after taking in what we wanted.
• The queue was long, so i decided to stay back
• "hey am Eric, david's friend." He waved at me. I didn't notice him before when they had walked in. I had busied myself arguing with a douchebag.
• "Rhea." I replied giving him a fake smile.
• "nice to meet you... i'll excuse myself to use the restroom, I'll be back in a few minutes." He smiled and left.
• Great am alone with this idiot one.
• David smiled and raised his eyebrows, "So Ree how have you been? Hope you missed me"
• I really wanted to smack that ugly face. But i put on the fake smile and responded "I've been fine till now. And missing you... God what are you talking about"
• "That attitude just turns me on. I think it is making me fall for you." He kept his hand on mine pressing it.
• "I bet you have said that to more than a dozen women." Looking down to his hands placed on mine, "and get your hand off me!" I growled slowly in a lower voice.
• I didn't want to create any chaos therefore quietly tried to free myself but he had strongly grasped it. I looked around to see if Lucy was back or looking at me but she wasn't. I narrowed my eyes at David. I looked around again to see if anyone turned their head to see what was happening, when my eyes landed on a couple who stepped in the cafe.
• The woman was so beautiful and wore a green dress that hung up to her thighs. She looked overdressed for the place but still looked gorgeous. My eyes were then directed to the male partner who was in a denim and black t-shirt. He was wearing casual unlike her girlfriend. I looked at his face and found him glaring at me. it was him Mr Neil Rodgers. i hope he didn't recognize me.
• he was coldly glaring at me...its not like i had snatched his favorite ice cream from him. He walked forward and grabbed a seat without once tearing apart his cold glaze. maybe he's trying to figure out if he knows me...His eyes then went down to my hands that were clasped with David's.
• I suddenly realized that David was still holding my hand.
• "You Jerk. Remove your filthy hands of me. Don't forget it would take just a click to rip off that innocent face you keep showing everyone around."
• "See that's what I was saying that attitude. damn... I now you like me too, but you are just playing hard. And I know you won't even think about saying anything to Lucy, she's your friend and you wouldn't hurt her would you? She won't believe anything you say."
• He is right I wouldn't hurt lucy.
• "Fuck yourself assho..." he quickly took his hand off when Lucy arrived.
• I didn't even get to finish my response that's not fair. I would fucking teach him a lesson.
• Lucy still didn't notice anything fishy, I sometimes think how can a human being be so naive.
• Whenever Lucy and Eric were in deep conversation he would wink or smile wickedly. Disgust and anger was balling up in my stomach
• Finally I thought I had enough and turned to Lucy. "Lu I think it's too late. And am tired too, we should leave." I tried convincing her
• "are you okay?" She asked worriedly, putting her hand on my back
• "yeah just tired." I lied
• "I think its getting late, we should get going. Bye guys" she stood and waved as we left.
