Chapter 22

• Adaline groped around, trying to find where her phone was. Usually, she placed her phone not far from her bed, but why couldn't she reach it?
• She got up, rubbing her eyes. 'Where am I?' That was the first question that crossed her mind. Her eyes widened as her memory returned. Wasn't she supposed to be on the way to Kansas? The last thing she remembered was being in Altezza's car.
• 'Did I fall asleep during the journey?' Oh no, she embarrassed herself again. Quickly scanning the room and sharpening her hearing, she searched for her phone. She didn't want her phone's alarm to wake up the entire household.
