Chapter 381
- Kai Steele’s bloodshot eyes locked on Stellan Miller’s. His face was dead serious, every word ground out: “I said she’s dead. Yesterday, the courthouse in Altaford called me. They said she died in a fire and told me to come sign her death—”

- Kai’s head tilted, hollow and slumped, staring at the hands clutching his shirt. The knuckles had gone white with force, veins standing out on the backs of his hands.
