Chapter 6 Are You Still Missing Her?

  • In the gym, Victor and Eileen stepped off the treadmill. Victor draped his towel around his shoulders and took a sip of water from his uncapped bottle.
  • Eileen wore a headband, and as she caught her breath, her hair cascaded down her back. She glanced at Victor and remarked, "Hey, you're not half bad. You're still as energetic as ever, even though it's been a while since you last worked out..."
  • "Of course. I won't let you underestimate me!"
  • Eileen smiled and twisted the cap back onto her bottle.
  • After their workout, they changed their clothes and stood at the gym entrance with their gym bags on their backs. Victor found himself lost in thought, staring at the back of a girl in the distance. Eileen noticed his gaze fixed on someone who resembled Rachel from behind.
  • "Are you still missing her?" Eileen patted his shoulder.
  • Victor didn't answer. When the girl disappeared from sight, he asked with a blank expression, "How are things with Xashania?"
  • Eileen smiled at him. "Everything will be ready in three days. We're just waiting for your approval!"
  • "Great! I'll go back to Xashania with you in five days!"
  • Eileen nodded and gazed at a row of bars across the street. She whispered, "My little cousin, come have fun with me there..."
  • She took out her lipstick and applied a bright red color to her lips.
  • "You still want to blow off some steam that way, huh?"
  • Eileen gave him a disdainful look. "I'm busy as hell managing the company in your absence, and you're labeling me like that? If you don't come back soon, I might seriously consider returning to my previous line of work!"
  • "What? Are you going to be a model again?"
  • Eileen had already started walking away. She turned around and said with a mysterious expression, "To be precise, I'm a car model!"
  • Eileen had always been a fan of luxury cars, and she used to work as a brand ambassador for those cars!
  • Victor always found it amusing that Eileen shared the same desire as him. Neither of them wanted to spend their entire lives taking care of the family business.
  • During his three years of marriage, Victor rarely frequented any entertainment hubs.
  • Now that he was about to leave Sweodal, he realized he didn't really know the city at all. By the time he thought about it, Eileen had already disappeared into the distance.
  • Victor shouted, "Eileen, let me join you!"
  • He was about to chase after Eileen when a scrawny middle-aged man approached her. A young man in a white T-shirt followed behind him.
  • The tall middle-aged man stood in front of Victor and said, "Ms. Frost, I've been waiting for you. This is our gift to you. We hope you'll like it..."
  • He opened a box in front of Victor, revealing dazzling sapphire jewelry.
  • Eileen glanced at it and nodded. "Mr. Ford, can you be more creative next time? You're always bothering me during my free time."
  • The middle-aged man noticed Victor standing next to Eileen and sensed an impressive aura from him. He secretly concluded that anyone close to Eileen must be extraordinary.
  • There weren't many people in Sweodal who were close to Eileen. Even if Victor was her alleged cousin, the middle-aged man surmised that he must be someone special. His intuition, honed through years of experience in the business field, told him so.
  • He knew he had to strike up a conversation with Eileen. If he caught her in a good mood, she might even do business with him. That would turn his fortunes around for the latter half of the year.
  • Victor didn't like what he saw. He was always a private person.
  • Eileen sensed Victor's impatience. Feeling impatient herself, she gave the middle-aged man her final words, "Do you have any business with me? If not, I need to go now!"
  • "Ms. Frost, this is my nephew. He's always dreamed of meeting you in person... Can you have dinner with him tonight? We've made all the arrangements..."
  • The middle-aged man pointed to a seafood restaurant nearby and said, "The chef is renowned overseas. I hope you'll consider it, Ms. Frost!"
  • Eileen found herself in a difficult position. In fact, she had decided to delegate a twenty-million-dollar project to Mr. Ford right there.
  • Victor glanced at her and said, "You should go with them for now. I'll explore the area by myself..."
  • Victor walked away, and Eileen shot a glare at the middle-aged man. He finally realized that he had offended her.
  • He observed that the young man who had just left had the ability to influence Eileen's mood. It confirmed his belief that Victor was a special figure in the city.
  • "Ms. Frost, who was that guy just now?"
  • "Do I have any obligation to tell you?"
  • "Not at all. My curiosity got the better of me. I should refrain from questioning you about that!"
  • If you don't want to face harassment from the banks in the second half of the year, don't talk nonsense!
  • The middle-aged man and his nephew shivered at the thought.
  • Victor strolled along the coast, and before he knew it, evening had arrived. He had lost track of time. Driven by hunger, he found himself on a street lined with restaurants and stalls.
  • He had heard that the food street in Sweodal was exceptional. Looking up, he spotted a massive billboard advertising a beautifully renovated restaurant.
  • Meanwhile, Rachel and Mabel sat on the sofa. A young man in a striped T-shirt sat across from them, accompanied by Alice.
  • Alice glanced at Mabel before speaking up, "Hey, I think I have a stomachache. I need to go to the clinic now. Why don't you come with me, Mabel?"
  • After pretending to argue about leaving their guest unattended, they ended up leaving anyway. Only Rachel and the young man remained.
  • Rachel tried to break the ice to avoid making the atmosphere even more awkward. She introduced herself, "Hello, my name is Rachel!"
  • "I've heard so much about you. My name is Jerry Parker."
  • "I heard that you just returned from overseas. I heard that you have a doctorate in law."
  • Jerry's chest swelled with pride, and he couldn't take his eyes off Rachel's beauty.
  • "Yes, but that's not something to boast about. I heard that you recently went through a divorce and that your ex-husband is worthless. How could someone as beautiful as you have been married to him in the first place?"
  • "Fortunately, you're single now. Otherwise, I would never have had the chance to enjoy this dinner date with you!"
  • Jerry tousled his hair and continued, "I would consider myself the luckiest man in the world if I had a girlfriend like you..."
  • Rachel finally realized that Alice and Mabel had just made an excuse to leave. They had actually set her up on a blind date.
  • Learning that her mother had set her up left her feeling dejected. All she could do was endure this excruciating blind date.
  • She replied, "Thank you for your kind words, I..."
  • Before she could finish her sentence, she saw a familiar figure entering the restaurant.
  • Victor walked into the restaurant, which was designed to resemble the interior of a train. The moment he entered, his eyes met Rachel's.
  • An image of Margot holding Victor's arm immediately flashed in Rachel's mind.
  • Suddenly, jealousy consumed her. She deliberately raised her voice, "Jerry, I heard that you're young and successful in business. I promise to be your girlfriend!"
  • Jerry couldn't contain his happiness upon hearing that.
  • He couldn't believe that Rachel wanted to be his girlfriend willingly. He stood up excitedly, grabbed a flower from a vase, and knelt down on one knee. Dreamily, he said to Rachel, "Rachel, thank you for being my girlfriend. I will always cherish you!"
  • Victor turned around. He wanted to leave the place now.
  • Rachel shouted at him, "Victor, did you see this? I know you have a beautiful and wealthy girlfriend now, but I also have a young and handsome boyfriend. I'm still a desirable catch even after leaving you!"
  • Rachel immediately felt embarrassed by her actions. What was she thinking?
  • Jerry didn't hesitate to hold her hand as well.
  • Victor turned around and saw them holding hands. He muttered, "As long as you're happy..."
  • Victor was about to leave, but Jerry suddenly approached him and grabbed him, saying, "Hey, don't go just yet. Are you that useless ex-husband?"
  • "I heard that you're unemployed. How about working as a cleaner or security guard at my company? We're hiring. You can take your pick since you're Rachel's ex-husband..."
  • Jerry didn't hide his intention to mock Victor.
  • Victor didn't want to escalate the situation. When he saw Jerry, he recognized him as the young man who was with the middle-aged man earlier when they were blocking Eileen's way.
  • Jerry actually jerked Victor around so they were face-to-face. He said, "Let me get a good look at this infamous scumbag..."
  • "Ah!" However, the moment Jerry saw Victor's face, he gasped and began to tremble in terror.
  • It turned out that the "scumbag" he had been talking about was none other than the man who had been by Ms. Frost's side at noon.
