Chapter 8 Blake Knight's Wife

  • "She shouldn't be meeting you here..." Jose whispered and Abigail turned to look at him.
  • "Why?" She asked raising her eyebrows at him.
  • "You're gonna be having sex with her husband soon. You shouldn't know each other until after." Jose explained.
  • "We wouldn't be shopping here then?" Abigail asked, taking a glimpse at Ursula, who was gazing at her reflection in the dressing mirror.
  • Jose dragged in a breath. "Mr. Rizzo wouldn't like this." He whispered to himself. "Whatever you do, don't have a conversation with her; she's Blake Knight's wife; you'll be meeting with her at the party on Wednesday after all."
  • "What?" Abigail looked surprisingly at Jose who walked away while she followed him. "What do you mean I'd be meeting with---"
  • "Let's finish shopping Abigail." Jose interrupted her. Abigail rolled her eyes at him, following the fashion consultant who went ahead to show a top-tier selection of dresses to her.
  • Abigail was still busy selecting some dresses when she heard someone called out from the other end section of the boutique.
  • "I'd be ordering two of these dresses."
  • "Ma'am, another customer already liked the dress and is about to purchase it."
  • "Excuse me?" Ursula turned to the worker. "Don't you know who I am?" She asked with a stern look and the female employer dared not stare directly into her eyes. "Who's this customer?"
  • "She's in the next aisle."
  • Meanwhile, Abigail, who just finished selecting a gown, smiled at the dress she picked, "This is beautiful." She muttered as she turned to the one at her service. "I'd like to take this."
  • "I'm sorry but that belongs to me." Ursula walked in, her heels clinking on the tiled floor.
  • 'Shit!' Abigail gritted her teeth when she turned to glance at Ursula who was dressed in a tailored white pantsuit. Her black hair fell straight down her back.
  • Why are they meeting? Jose instructed that they shouldn't meet or even have a conversation and it would be better if she gave the woman what she wanted to avoid familiarity the next time they met, but she wasn't the type of person to let go of what she already had an interest in.
  • "Excuse me?" Abigail smiled a little at the woman.
  • "I was to buy two of those dresses. Now give it back to me." Ursula called nodding her head towards the dress Abigail was holding.
  • "But it wasn't labeled sold. Or was it?" She turned to the worker who had been at her service, but the lady looked speechless, just like the coworker behind Ursula.
  • Is she their boss or something? Abigail wondered.
  • "Look, there are plenty of beautiful dresses you could pick from the store. That one with you, is mine. It'd be nice if you gave it back. Don't waste my precious time, lady." Ursula stated with a disinterested gaze.
  • The audacity! Abigail scoffed. "How about you wear the one you already picked? And when the same dress is available again, you could have two of it." She spoke nicely. Hoping Ursula would nod to her suggestion and leave her the fuck alone.
  • "Are you telling me what to do?" Ursula asked, this time gazing at Abigail from head to toe. "I'm pretty sure this is your first time in the store, rather... New York City, seeing you don't even know who I a---"
  • "I'm sorry, but I gotta attend other places." Abigail cut her off as she took the red dress and walked away.
  • "Hey!" Ursula shouted as though that particular voice of hers had always made people freeze on their spot. Of course, it had made some of the workers freeze on their feet, but that wouldn't work on her.
  • What a prideful spiteful lady she is! Abigail glared as she walked with the bag of the few dresses she purchased.
  • "What took you so long... You only needed to get one or two dresses." Jose asked collecting the bags from her.
  • "You won't like this, but I met Ursula," Abigail told him as she watched him shut the backseat door.
  • "And you avoided her right?" Jose asked again.
  • "Nah." She answered. "We had a conversation--- no, more of a disagreement, argument," Abigail said, shaking her head, confused about the particular words to use.
  • "You argued with Blake Knight's wife?" Jose turned swiftly to her with a shocked expression.
  • "I don't know Jose. It wasn't a heated argument, though... She wanted to take a dress I already purchased. She wanted it even though it was the last two dresses left. Shouldn't she be happy she even got one?" Abigail mumbled.
  • "You should have left it for her Abigail. We don't want anything ruining our plan." Jose spoke with a concerned look.
  • "If she had asked nicely, I'd have given her. She doesn't have the right to act bossy with me." Abigail defended. "And you don't have to worry about Mr. Ricco. This wouldn't ruin anything; as much as I can get on the bad side, I can return to the good side of someone." She winked as she slid into the car.
  • Jose breathed out glancing at the store... Ursula was seen walking to the door. Hopefully, she won't be sending Abigail out of her party on Wednesday if they meet.
  • He turned the car and sat in the driver's seat; igniting the engine, he drove off.
  • "Where are we off to next?" Abigail asked with amusement in her eyes as she glanced at Jose.
  • "Home. You might bump into Blake Knight's wife again, and I don't want that happening." He replied.
  • "No more outings? You serious?" Abigail asked raising her eyebrows. "I'm gonna report to your boss for not letting me explore daylight in New York." She said like a threat.
  • "Mr. Rizzo wouldn't have time to speak with you anymore; he planned on giving me instructions while you follow," Jose informed. "So if you cooperate, you go on any outings, but if you don't... You know you'd be stuck indoors, right?"
  • "Argh!" Abigail groaned leaning her head on the headrest. "Are you... My boss now?" She asked but Jose didn't give any replies as he focused on driving.
  • The car stopped at the front of the house, Abigail was the first to alight from it as she walked into the living room and to the kitchen, where she poured herself a cup of water...
  • She had thought she would be having dinner outdoors, but here she was, back in the house where it seemed like she was a hostage while she had thought she was going to live a luxurious lifestyle on her first day here.
  • Abigail walked out of the kitchen, then she stopped on her track when she saw Jose walking out of her bedroom.
  • "Huh... I went to drop the bags." Jose informed her.
  • "I'm going to bed; I'll skip dinner," Abigail told him as she walked past him.
  • "Wait... The party I told you about." He paused as Abigail turned to him. "The party you are to attend this Wednesday is being held by Ursula. Blake Knight's wife. I thought you should know."
  • "What!" Abigail exclaimed with a shocked expression as though she already changed her mind about going within those seconds.
